Air Niagara Express (Cir. 1990-1995)
These guys were related to JetAll in some fashion. I think Air Niagara Express had the PAX certificate and JetAll had the cargo certificate. Some of JetAll's Metro's saw action with Air Niagara Express - probably before their respective cargo conversions. They even got an Ex-Horizon Fokker F-28 in the later 1990's. Running charters from US cities to various Canadian destinations via Toronto is mostly what these guys did. (These are still semi-representative.) These FP's just entail the CV-580's I painted. Southern Gateway (Cir. 2001) Not much is known about this outfit. It does bear the nefarious "EL-" registration of Liberia. The "EL-" registration has since been made illegal, in an effort to put the days of Viktor Bout's aviation ops in the past. mikeblaze painted this bird in his An-8 conversion pack. His sharp eyes picked up a South African flag on the tail, so I based this aircraft out of FAJS - running "cargo" to all of the various southern Africa capital cities, with a few charters thrown in to Bulawayo and the DRC for fun. Uhuru Airlines (Cir. 2003-2005) Small outfit out of the DRC with a varied fleet of Antonov's. The An-8 was used on several humanitarian aid flights throughout the area, mostly flying charters for NGO's. Not much is know beyond this, sadly. Since FIH is very central to alot of large or affluent cities in several countries, I chose to send the An-8 the farthest out, mostly doing int'l flights. The An-32 does all of the over-water routes to the islands just west of Point Noire and Douala. The An-26 stays inland, servicing the coastal cities for the most part. FP's are semi-representative. Malev Cargo (Cir. 1990) Quite the interesting story here... Malev Cargo had a Tu-154B and an Il-18 (neither with proper cargo doors) running cargo (mail?) around Europe before getting Buffalo Airways to haul the serious traffic. Having leased a couple of 707's from Buffalo, Malev was interested in getting a 707 of their own. The deal sadly fell through and the Malev Cargo venture never really went anywhere after the later half of 1990 (I believe). The concept, however, was rather cool. When Buffalo was flying for Malev, they ran a Budapest-Vienna-Aden-Singapore route. The return route wasn't as profitable, as they could not load as much cargo onto the jet (weather-related? No return business? Who knows.) They flew back to Europe via "Dubai" (probably Sharjah), terminating in Budapest. The plans below mimic this frequency Monday through Friday. To fill in the time over the weekend, I sent the jet to get M/X in Southend on Saturday and a relatively short hop to Cairo over Sunday. N707PM was almost fully painted when the deal fell through. Fresh Food Traders (Cir. 1991-1994) Not much to go on with this airline. However, the business model for small, fly-by-night 707 cargo operators in the 1990's was simply: Fly plane to Ostend, fly cargo for XXX freight-forwarder to YYY destination, and fly back. Air Zory (Cir. 1994-1997) The dedicated cargo Il-18GrM flew for the likes of Channel Express and Lufthansa Cargo, staying mostly in Western Europe. Centrafrican (Cir. Late 1990's-Early 2000's) One of Viktor Bout's airlines - Had aircraft registered all over, flying who-knows-what to all sorts of nether-regions. Flew mostly Central African Republic's royalty around or arms to various factions operating in the various hot spots around the Middle East or Africa at the time. Given that some of these aircraft (or a/c from his other airlines) had other airlines' logos painted on them on occasion, I'm wondering if there was some "legit" charters/business inter-mixed with the nefarious stuff. Air Cess and Santa Cruz, for example, both had Il-18's with Sudan Airways logos added at some point. Considering how many a/c SUD leased back then, it kinda fits. Renan Airlines (Cir. 1996-2001) A Moldovan outfit, these guys flew a fleet of various Eastern-built prop-jobs and high-wing Antonov jets. They had Il-18's for PAX/pfreighter use on various trips, one even being leased to Tavria-Mak, out of next-door Ukraine. The other aircraft went all over, and I truly mean all over. You could spot a Renan plane in Western Africa, Germany, Russia, South Africa, or the Middle East and it not be out of character - Flying mostly for freight forwarders or charter brokers. Some charters were more interesting - I read in a couple places that Renan was used heavily for flying race teams to and from Western Africa for the Dakar Rally. They also had several routes flying fresh seafood into Europe from Mauritania. One An-72 got shot down off the coast of Angola! Not sure what all happened there. One thing I found when making these and some Motor Sich FP's is that the Mariupol airport is not even rendered in FS9. The airport code has since changed from UKCV to UKCM. There is a decent scenery over at Avsimrus of Mariupol. Definitely change any airlines that use UKCV to UKCM. I found a handful that needed changing: Aeroflot, Air Ukraine, my Air Zory FP's above, etc. The Tavria-Mak FP's come from some older Sevastopol-Avia FP's available on Avsim. (Tavria-Mak's routes and planes went to Sevastopol-Avia shortly after Tavria's demise.) The rest are written by me and are representative at best. The Il-18's are in mikeblaze's big CPAI Il-18 package. I did the An-12 already and the rest of the fleet will come in due time.
