Hey guys,
New users are popping up and asking a lot of questions, which is great and very encouraged! However, the information is being convoluted as explanations are being given in random threads where few are going to be able to easily find it. As such, I have decided to start this thread where I will add links to models, relevant installers and applications, add-ons to enhance your AI, and even some retro scenery as more becomes available.
Many AI models have been upgraded since they were first converted to work in P3Dv4. The newer models have better details and often new features like implementing PBR lighting, dynamic lighting, and turning many of the lights into effects for better realism(which also means you'll need to replace the lightmap files one by one, sadly). I will try and provide links to the newest models I know of. Please post in this thread if there are dead links or you have something to contribute, or of course, questions.
Sounds:
AI sounds are easy to install and enhance your experience when you're near other aircraft. Here are some pages with free AI Sound downloads that even include tutorials for installation. Simply install the sounds as explained, then create an "aisound" folder in each of your aircraft folders with the notepad file linking to the name of the aircraft sound folder you wish to use from the many you download. For aircraft like the A320 with different variations, you may add folders called "sound.neo", "sound.iae", and "sound.cfm" and just have the sound notepad in each folder link to the desired sound. Then in your aircraft.cfg, add a line "soundai=??" replacing "??" with "neo", "ge", "cfm", "iae", "rr", ect. If you have a single sound folder, simply installing the "soundai" folder into the aircraft folder will suffice and you do not need individual entries.

Lighting:
There is a great product out there to enhance AI lighting. The free versions looks great, but does not have different variations. The payware version allows full customization, different lighting for LED equipped aircraft, and most other differences. Check out AI Lights Reborn.
Smoke Effects:
One of our own members FSMuseum has made awesome smoke effects for FS2004 which work great in P3Dv4. They provide effects for 4 engine jets, MD-80s, 737-200s, ect with several variations to best suite the aircraft you're installing them to. I will package them together with a tutorial and share them here soon.
Utilities:
The Super Traffic Board product is really almost mandatory if you wish to explore and enhance your AI world. Not only is it a very detailed system for tracking your AI, but it also allows you to delete aircraft instantly, force planes to land or depart on command if you wish to watch them or get them out of the way, and actually changes the ATC engine when active to make AI aircraft behave better. Visit their webpage here.
ModelConverterX is an essential tool for retro AI traffic in P3Dv4. This free tool allows you to convert aircraft models and scenery objects from FS2000-P3Dv3 into P3Dv4 64-bit format so that they show up in your simulator. Simply load in your aircraft model, and select "export" to save it as a P3Dv4 native model. I will eventually make a tutorial, and aircraft models that I have found to convert well are listed below. Sometimes, models will not convert properly unless the animations are also converted, which is very complicated.
Getting SODE Jetways to connect to AI aircraft
One modern addition to flight simulator that has made the game much more realistic is "SODE" technology. SODE ensures that jetbridges at add-on airports(and default with jetways) are animated and will meet your own aircraft(using CTRL+J) and automatically meeting AI aircraft as well. It is also possible for animated GSE(ground service equipment) to visit AI aircraft. Newer models should work automatically, but older aircraft will need a small edit to the aircraft.cfg file. For any aircraft that you find are not automatically met by SODE jet bridges, simply visit this thread on AIG and replace the [exits] section in the aircraft.cfg of your models with the values added in the AIG thread and save. Very simple, and while tedious, you only have to do it once and may then enjoy the added realism of jetways connected to your AI planes.
If you have a problem where older models converted work work with PBR lighting turn black in low light
Folks at AIG and elsehwere have done a great job converting models to P3Dv4 and also getting them to work with PBR, an advanced lighting system in P3Dv4\5 that creates instant effects with no FPS hit. However, in low light, some of the models may look totally black, as if the texture is missing. As this is obviously unrealistic, you can easily fix this by following the easy steps in this AIG thread. Simply find the file mentioned, open it in notepad, and replace the line with the text shown. That's it!
Retro Scenery
Here are links to some retro airports, compatibilty listed as not all will work in P3Dv4\5. Generally if it is FSX or newer scenery, it will often work OK in P3Dv4\5 but not always. If buildings do not display, they are 32bit and not 64bit and thus for FS2004\FSX-P3Dv3. To convert them, you need to open every object in Model Converter X then save it as a P3Dv4\5 object, if the files are set up in a way to allow that, and it should make the buildings appear. Another common issue is transparent ramp\taxiways, to fix this, open the ADEX file and select "Lists" from the top menu, then "Taxi Links". From the pop up menu, select "Reset all draw flags" and then re-compile over the original file. If there are still issues, watch a YouTube tutorial on creating airport polygons and try re-creating it. If all else fails, it will be an advanced airport to convert so the scenery will likely never work unless someone with a specific skill set decides to do so.

Retro Flightplans
Retro flightplans are a bit scattered, uploaded in many places. However from the 1920s thru present day, there are many airlines to choose from. I have created a tutorial video of how to install flightplans from different years as scenery, the same as you would with airports, and then you can switch between years by just activating and deactivating the AI traffic folder of with the years of traffic you want in your scenery library. That way, you can install any year you are interested in, including modern-day, and quickly switch between them.
One good source is to go to www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?do=displaysearch or library.avsim.net/ and search the FS2002, FS2004, FSX, and P3D "Flightplans" sections for the year you are looking for. Most will be uploaded as either FS2004 or FSX flightplans, but some will be posted as P3D or FS2002 flightplans as well. Even then, some authors like Eduardo Villanueva and myself have uploaded flightplans as "packages" with repaints, so they are in the reapaints section. As such, you may also search all sections at once instead of just 1 flightplan section and type (in quotations) "Flightplans 1998" for example. Then do it again with "Flight Plans 1998", or whatever year. I have found this an effective method.
Various users here have made flightplans for different eras, and while most users try to organize the plans into one location, the Retro AI forums have hundreds of plans scattered about not uploaded elsewhere. To find those, go to to this flightplans section of the Retro AI forums. Then, on the top right, enter in the search box the airline you are looking for, the year, or both. As this will automatically bring up both posts and threads, you can do an advanced search using the main search function button at the top of each page on the Retro AI forums and search in "Thread Titles Only". But as many airlines are posted in the same thread sometimes, you may need to try both to find what you are looking for.
Here are the better-organized flightplans by various members here, where you will find a lot of what you are looking for:

Installation of Flightplans
For now, all flightplans on this site require installation. In the future, an installer will be developed for the 1998 Project files, and I do intend to extend that to the other AI flightplans in the future. But this may take years. For now, I have made 2 tutorials on manual installation of flightplans:
Here is a 27 minute video covering the installation of the 1998 project flightplans and issues you may encounter. This video will also teach you how to install most flightplans on this site as well:
Here is a longer video, just under an hour, that will show you in depth how to install flightplans with no listed repaints which require forming them "from scratch". This video covers most of the same content as the shorter video, but in more detail and is sure to make you master this process:
Converting FS2004 or FSX Native Textures to P3D
It is very simple and requires the free program DXT.bmp, which I have linked to in the description of this tutorial:
PBR Textures:
I have made a video teaching users how to update old FS2002 thru P3Dv3 models for P3Dv4\5 using the links below, including how to update models with new PBR lighting features:

AI Models
Aircraft type links to the base model. FSX\P3Dv4 model will be included next to the aircraft if applicable. Note that you must create a free account at AIG to download many of these files. Other models that do not have official conversions but appear to convert well with ModelConverterX are noted. Other files are included via the AIG One Click Installer(just install an airline that flies that aircraft and the model will end up in your simulator) or via the ORBX AI package. If you don't see the model here, I haven't gotten to it yet or there is no public conversion as far as I know and the aircraft does not convert automatically with MCX.
Here is a quick tutorial on converting models with ModelConverterX:

Airline textures
All the 1998\1999 project flightplans have links to all known repaints and are updated when more are completed, but many of my older 90s flightplans along with most others on this site do not include links. So until there is an installer which will download them off the web for you, you'll have to hunt them down. If you really want to help out, feel free to necro-post if flightplans have their own thread with repaint links to help everyone else out, and to help us making the installer out as well. Here are popular links to retro airline textures, which are updated from time to time so check back sometimes. If they are not in any of these sources, you can always search www.avsim.net or www.flightsim.com. Many of these textures will be for FS2004 and require a simple conversion, and I have noted the ones likely to be in this format:
ranmori textures: ranmori.mixh.jp/wp/ and also here: drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/1Ljc5yAUJSGnbhbA-jjdXiimn3kCWU1a1 (mostly 90s Japan\Asia\Europe)
