Here's the third promised package this week. I completely forgot about these aircraft until I started going through AIA stuff for P3D compatibility. No plans to do Wunala or Nalanji at this time, but I am sorting that out from a different direction. :{)

... and these. Brian painted the early QFA 747s very nicely, so no need to do those. :{)

In all actuality, QFA was not the third promised project, it was an accidental discovery. This is the "real" third project I had promised for this weekend's previews.... :{)

.... and this one.... This airline ties in closely with ABD, so it will be good to release both packages at once. Everything covers 1977-2000. I opted out of the SPs, as they are already available, but my paints are color-matched to mix with the SP just fine. Quite an eclectic collection of -100s and -200s, covering pax, combi, and convertible variants. :{)

So, here's what I meant by 'other direction' in one of my previous posts. These are locally converted (by me) P3Dv4.5 PBR models with dynamic light effects. I'm sorting out the mysteries of lua scripting this week so I can get the cabin lighting where I want it. What we have here is night-time flight test at VHHX, and visible are 744GE QFA Wunala (the later GE one not the first RR one), 743RR QFA Nalanji, and a random MD87 for JAS, all AIA models. Somewhere in the background out of sight are MD90s, MD81s, 744Ds, and a couple of DC-10s that I can't preview because of copyright restrictions (sorry). I don't want to torture everybody with pix of aircraft I can't publish, that's all. The only non-dynamic lights on the aircraft are the cabin windows in the lightmap, everything else is natural lighting effect from the aircraft themselves and the surroundings to include other aircraft. There are a lot of AI models converted to P3Dv4 standard out there from various talented people, but most of them still aren't PBR, or I am figuring out a conversion process which works for me. I certainly can't take all of the credit, the giants are the guys at AIG and MAIW who really got this part of the hobby going, and a couple of them are helping me along. They just didn't convert nearly enough of the classic AI models IMHO, lol, and that's where I am coming in. For nearly twenty years I have beat my head against the wall with Gmax/3dsMax and have never gained the aptitude to do what I wanted to do in modeling. MCX conversion is something I can do, so I am. Remember, this was something I pledged to do last year, but COVID-19 set everybody back about a year. I still want a refund on 2020. :{)

Very cool!
I agree with you about 2020, we'll be recovering for a looong time...ugh.
Those AIA models look great. Do you use the HJG L-1011 for your AI like I do? That one desperately needs night textures, the provided ones don't black anything out and the plane looks bright almost like dalylight all the time. I made a modification but I need to test it out.

I uploaded the following aircraft repaints to AVSIM today, they should be available now:
SVA: 741, 742, 743 ABD: 741, 742, 743, 74S ANA: 742 QFA: 742, 743, 744, 74S for the late 80s-to-early-2000s
As a note, the QFA lease from MPH is in my MPH package I released a couple of years ago.
The repaint count is around sixty, give or take a few.
Have fun with it.
I am completing my first batch of P3Dv4 conversions this week, still waiting on AIA permission:
MD-8x, MD-87, MD-90, 717-200. All aircraft have P3Dv4/5 PBR textures, lua scripted cabin lights, steerable nose gear (which none had before), and animated engine fans (MD-8x and MD-87 didn't have before). There have been a couple of attempts by others to do the steerable nose gear with the existing gear struts which are three-sided, and the results are predictable. I re-built the nosegear assembly from scratch in FSDS, which I have used once or twice, lol.
Also, my conversions have hard-coded lights (all lights) in the model, so they project dynamic light better than the ones added into the config file, plus I can do logolight and non-logolight variants in the same folder where appropriate. The old-school lightmaps are a thing of the past now with dynamic lighting, the lua script controls the window lights on/off, and hard-coded lights take care of the rest. No more light splashes in the lightmap for logolights and landing lights and such, just cabin/ lights.
All I'm really doing is trying to make essentially FS2002 models a little nicer ten generations of flight sim later (FS9, FSX, FSX-A, FSX-SE, P3Dv1/2/3/4, P3Dv4.4, P3Dv5)
More modeling/converting than painting this week, we'll see what is next....

Amazing Mike! Thank you. I've never given up hope to see the SVA 741 in the newer colours for the FAIB model. Nice surprise.

I'm getting to the QFA 767s, and I stumbled across AAU Australia Asia Airlines with their 763 and 74S, so those will be forthcoming in the next paint cycle. Also, from yesterday's uploads here forward, any 747/767 work I do for FAIB will be in 4K textures only.

Thanks a million for this awesome packs and great to see ya back. I think the SVA 742 file is missing the Readme file amongst others...? Does anyone happen to know where I can find QFA Boeing 747-338 VH-EBW ca 2008 and 1989? Reason is, that she was the bird I had one last chance to enjoy a Boeing 747 Classic and, thus sentiment is connected with it. Kind regards.

I actually need a little research question answered, to help ease my addled mind. I didn't catch the switch between 'Spirit of Australia' and 'The Australian Airline' logos, what year did that happen? I am working on the 767s right now, and will have to issue a small update/expansion for the 747s to reflect this. BTW, something to whet the appetite, QFA's black-op Taiwan airline..... :{)

My guess it was around 1995... Here are the 767s, QFA and AAU.... I will sort out an update for the QFA 747s this week. :{)

Great job on these, but, as far as I know, AAU doesn't wear the Australian flag on their liveries.

I think the SVA 742 file is missing the Readme file amongst others...? Here is the missing config file from the SVA 742 package. I'm surprised it got through AVSIM's library process, they require a documentation file. I forgot to put the screenshots in the zip as well, but I'm sure you all can live without them, lol.
