Braniff Bac 1-11 routes

;D Hi All, (Especially you Kris....) I was wondering if anyone had info as to where and when BN flew their BAC 1-11s both Braniff 1 and 2. I need somewhere to fly David Maltby's superb 1-11 package that I've grown quite addicted to as of late.If you don't have this set it's at www.dmflightsim.co.uk/default.htm

I can get you some info on that when I get home tonight (if I remember in between trick-or-treaters). I have a 1965 North American OAG. My recollection offhand is that Braniff used these in the midwest corridor. Remember the One-eleven crash in Nebraska or Iowa in the 1960's?

Mohawk and later Allegheny also used these in the US into the 1970s. My Allegheny flight plans include One-elevens.

Braniff 2 BACjet routes were mainly on the old Flex runs out of MCO (MCO-PBI/FLL/MIA/RSW/etc) and some repositioned to fill smaller markets out of MCI (MCI-OMA/STL/TUL/MKE/etc).

As for Braniff I - Kris will have to expound on that.

Just realized my 1965 OAG won't help. It's from April and that's just when Braniff started using the One-eleven. They're not listed in my OAG. Sorry about that.

Sorry, I've been away - mostly catching up on a lot I've missed while being out. You guys are already pretty much on them beam WRT Braniff I's 1-11 routes. They were mostly north-south routes through the Midwest - largely the old Mid-Continent system. I saw mention of the crash they suffered in 1966. That was near Falls City, Nebraska, which is in the far southeast corner o the state, very close to both the Kansas and Missouri lines. It was operating as Flight 250, a night northbound service that originated at KMSY and ended at KMSP. Stops along the way were KSHV, KFSM, KTUL, KMKC, and KOMA. Flight 255 was its southbound conterpart. This route was flown at least twice a day by the 1-11s. There were 1-11 flights that ran from Chicago and Kansas City to Wichita, Oklahoma City, and Dallas to points south in Texas. The 1-11 did crop up in other places, likely as a substitute, but its main routes were those north-south Midwestern "milk runs". I have scans of a 1965 schedule that Daniel sent me - it introduces the 1-11, I'll have to find them. I think they're on the other computer. I'll post the 1-11 flights when I can.

Which I thank you for very much. Ever since I got out of the hospital, I have had carpal tunnel problems. It started in my left hand, and when that stopped hurting, it went to my right hand. Now it's in both hands, hurting but mild - when it hit my left hand, I had to use my right just to support it. That was so much fun at the ATM or when I stupidly ordered the Route 44 Root Beer at Sonic... I'm around, but I don't answer the phone after 9, usually I'm zonked out on on the way by then - I work 10-11 hours a day, and that's about all I can take, as I'm still rather weak. I often question if I'm not pushing myself too much, but I have a lot of responsibilities that I can't delegate, so I do it. It takes a long time to rebuild after what I went through - it will likely be spring before I'm at 100% again. But, at least I have weekends free again.

I can tell you from experience that overdoing it after surgery or hospitalization is most defnitely counterproductive. Give yourself time to heal. You'll be more productive in the end.

I do my best to take it easy, but my profession really demands that you're "in the loop" at all times. It's sad that our world has become a place where it's no longer easy to just relax, enjoy the things around you like friends and family. My two best friends from work are both young fathers - one has a one-year old, the other a two-year old. The former works two jobs - after putting in 40+ per week with us, he buys and rehabs older houses. If you've ever seen the show "Flip This House" on TLC, that's what he does - it's lucrative and popular around here, I was strongly considering getting into it before falling ill. We have a lot of inner-city homes that were abandoned during the "white flight" era that are really popular now with young couples and families - a lot of money can be made right now. But, it's a lot of work - his weekends and nights off are largely spent gutting these old houses and fixing them up for sale. The latter - both he and his wife work, and he's working a lot of overtime to clear debts and such before their new house is built. And the list goes on and on - my generation, "Generation X", we were called "slackers" by the baby-boomers back in the early 1990's, but now I know few of us who works a "normal" 9-5, M-F week. Saturdays for me are just decompression, I just do nothing. Sundays, I get unessential things done - wash the car, etc. But sooner than it started, it's back to the grind. Some days it feels like the opening of Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" with all the people marching off in lock-step to work for the machine.
