Dear Bob Hughes,
I am the team leader of the Vista Australis (VOZ) AI Pack
As a service to the nearly 80,000 users of VOZ worldwide, we had in early August created a simple installer EXE for a VOZ AI Pack, which added PAI, AIA and other models, Australian repaints plus flight plans based on real-world schedules. The aim was to have a single installer of about 130MB for our users to install a complete AI solution for Australia.
However, we have run into a few issues, namely the overwriting of similar filenames to the default installer for PAI, plus not gaining permission from AIA and Evolve AI due to some mis-communication and misunderstandings about their terms of use. We have removed our AI pack from our servers and are now pursuing a revised edition.
Frank from PAI has given his total support behind this pack with offers to assist with modelling and repaints and any help we require.
Mitsushi Yutaka from FSP, Dee Waldron and Henry Tomkiewcz have also given permission to use their freeware models.
We are also working in conjunction with the Great New Zealand Light AI Project so that both projects will enhance AI in this part of the world.
We do not intend to make a single penny out of this re-distribution, since VOZ is a community freeware project and will never be charged for. We also intend our public site to be the SOLE server to download this AI Pack from, with no user fees, memberships or accounts required to download it. Rest assured we don't want to make a any profit for us, but just want to make things easier for VOZ users around the world who may not have skills to build their own AI library.
I am emailing you as a known author of Aircraft repaints to formally request your permission to bundle your Qantas V-jet repaint. Your name will appear in the user's manual with a copyright notice and we will give you full credit and a word of thanks for your permission should you grant it.
The upside for you is that potentially over 100,000 users will be appreciative of your work before the years end and you'll gain a lot of exposure for your design work.
I fully understand if you decide to not grant your permission, and if this is the case we will remove your AI repaint from the pack with no further correspondence.
If you do grant us permission, please just reply to this email with the word "Permission granted". We'll ensure your name and email is included in the user manual.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
Mal Walker
