While I make every attempt to identify and use the exact equipment for each airline and flight I am not a stickler for perfection when it comes to AI. Do not assume from my aircraft files that the equipment I choose to use is necessarily 100% accurate. I may substitute a DC-8-50 for a DC-8-60, for example, or a 727-200 for a 727-100 if I cannot find the exact model I need.
Take my aircraft files as a suggestion. If you are a real sticker for absolute accuracy, do your own research and search out the right model. But if I didn't find it, chances are it's not available.

Hi Andy,
What I do in this case is list the correct aircraft in the text file and in the aircraft.txt file, and then explain in the text file that the user will need to substitute a different aircraft because the correct one is not available. I suggest one and it's source.
In your case you could continue as you are, but in the text file explain the substitution you've already made.
Hope this helps,

Good suggestion, Tom. I'll do that from now on and I'll even go back and create such text notes for the plans I have have submitted. Most of the time I have been able to use the exact aircraft. Don't worry, I never substitute a 737 for a 727 or anything like that. I only subsitute between various models of the same type: 727-200 for 727-100, etc. and this only rarely.
Here is my order of prioity for selecting ai aircraft.
1. Find and use exact ai model, or 2. Use flyable version of the exact model, or 3. Use ai version of similar model, or 4. Use flyable model of similar model.
If I can't find one of these four options for each aircraft in an airline's fleet I probably don't code the airline.
