Yeah Jason, but where?
Avsim is no better, with the place clogged with squillions of users in the queue to download the latest Chilean photorealistic scenery or the entire collection of registrations of Air France A320s for the Overland model.
Maybe it's Simviation's turn. I've never had any issues sucking down the HJG stuff from them.
Good luck in any case.

..or I can pay $75 to flightsim.com and get a "1st class" membership Did that once, and it was a waste of money as you never use it enough. The two hour limit is nothing new. They had that back in the 90's and I pregnant doged about it then as using a dial up from the UK meant you could never get many files due to being cut off after an hour by the ISP anyway! Avsim is so slow now and they limit the amount of parallel downloads which makes it even worse!! Paul Edit "pregnant doged? ??" AAHHHHHHHHHHHH Can't say b1tched!!

I probably shouldn't admit this, but I am one of those 'First Class' scumbags.
I don't want this to sound like an advert (because I opted for it purely out of desperation because of bad connection quality alloyed to the time limit making life a pain), however it's not US$75, but US$30. Okay, it's no bargain, but it's better than the "ALL NODES BUSY" dialogues I used to see with nauseating regularity. In an ideal world I'd rather not shell out the dosh for a reasonable connection speed and reliability, but given the way things have shaken out in the FS Universe, I am (sort of) glad I have.
The only sadness I have is the fact I cannot use my (relatively) high-speed and (usually) reliable connection to download the whole of Chile in ultra-high resolution, since Avsim's the only place 'fortunate' enough to get those files. Oh well, I'll get by somehow...
Again, I don't want that to sound like an advert or a glowing testimonial. Thinking of it as the babblings of a deranged mind is okeh though.

ok im going to admit something:
I won a 1st class membership back in 2003... and i don't think it ever got revoked. I'm certainly not paying for one but i never get "all nodes busy".

Hi,
If you upload an original file to flightsim, you get a "partial membership" for a year (i.e. no "all nodes busy" messages, but slow downloads).
Hope this helps,

Well, I cannot complain at all about free hosting services, but I will say that I ceased uploading to Flightsim.com a few years ago. I only upload to Avsim, but indeed they are slow. I will let everyone in on a little secret that I have been hiding - I am working on getting a server online to host RAI and all associated files. That means repaints, sceneries, everything will be on our own server. Not sure of the timeframe as yet, but it will be within the next year.

The time limit thing is no big deal. Searching for you file and downloading it takes maybe 15 minutes tops. Just remember to log out right away after downloading. I haven't been over there lately, is the "all nodes busy" getting bad?
Also, I've had virtually no problems with avsim. Download can be a little slow at times but nothing annoying.

Hi,
If you (personally) have uploaded a file within the past year, just send an email to the site and see if they will give you the upgraded status.
Of course, they might have changed their policy at some point...
