hello all, what do you use to get custom ai traffic showing up in msfs?

Most of it just works with no or little modification, as long as its in FSX format. For some reason the Internet seems to have made a large mystery surrounding traffic for MSFS, where as in reality its not complicated at all. I am baffled why nobody is making updated repaints or models for it.

Yeah, everyone from RAI to HJG to MAIW to CalClassics had to pause and all said "Man, MSFS sucks for .bgl AI traffic" we're all just cavemen and it's not even complicated. Got it.

For the average user it's not a lot different. Unless you wish for a super traffic board style scenario like I have on my own PC (I use P3DV6), it works pretty well. Admittedly there are some issues with MSFS but they don't make a big difference to the average user. The main issue is because of the giant "mystery" nobody has made updated ADE's, models, repaints etc. All of which are no more difficult to make than they were in P3D. If so, would you mind to share your results? Because I am also considering to try myself with MSFS ai. 🙂 Kind regards.

The only real issue I have so far - which currently trying to fix is why there are so few landings. Could be a classic "RADIOS" problem, but it looks to be more complex, maybe something else in the ADE, or Aircraft configration files.

I have most of my AI models converted as well, you can either get them from sources like the AIGAIM, FSLTL, IVAO or native FSX model downloads and then format them the MSFS way and get them flying. That isn't the big issue though. Having these models flying on .bgl non-injected traditional flightplans? That is the part everyone is waiting for since the first Sim Update of 2023. So the models aren't doing anything unless you want to plug them into an injector and re-make every flightplan on RAI and the rest of the net lol. Though, it is possible, but I don't see any reason to re-do it all and exclude those who want to use FS9, P3D, ect. It would take just as long as doing it the way most of us here make plans anyway, so salvaging the multi-purpose plans is the route most of the internet has decided to take it would seem in the retro, GA, and military world where live isn't what we want. Better for most people in MSFS and previous sims if these plans can work "as is".

Take offs I don't see any issue with, all scheduled aircraft appear to spawn correctly. Just there is an issue with not many landings. The time of day issue is not major, since you can just change the time on your pc.

Well today I worked out the following by using AIFlow:
Increasing the Simulation rate, makes the AI physical aircraft take off and land faster, but it does not change the landing schedules from system time! So all the aircraft take off which are on the ground, but the landing aircraft arriving into the local area do not appear until it is their system time for them to arrive. Therefore it is not possible to increase the simulation rate to make the traffic land / depart faster successfully The days of the week are different as follows: FS9/P3D DAY / MSFS DAY 1 = 5 2 = 6 3 = 0 4 = 1 5 = 2 6 = 3 0 = 4 Could fairly easily correct this by just replacing all the values in the Flightplans.txt file as per above I recommend to download the programme AIFlow, which also assists the aircraft to land - that is how I figured all this out. They also have AI Ground. Both are free.
