Hello,
I've downloaded CPAI models (Caravelle and Vickers Viscount etc) and integrated them to the California Classics 1962 AI Traffic world. I'm using FS2004. Virtual 50% or 75% zoom. I'm generally very happy with these newer models. However, there is a detail which is bothering me about these models which are not so obvious in the older DWAI models. I understand these newer models come with 7 LODs instead of 3-4 on older AI aircraft models. The problem I encounter is that the lower detailed LODs load much quicker or in other words at a much closer distance than the older AI models. So I could be taxiing at an airport and the level detail of a CPAI parked/moving aircraft can change 1-3 times while I approach it in a very short distance. Whereas the airport and other aircraft don't or might have 1 very subtle change in detail.
Do you have any suggestions on a anyway or tool available out there that can help me remove 1-3 LODs or edit to increase the distance of the existing LODs?
regards, Michel YUL

I am curious about this too - not just for some of Chris' models but others as well. I fear, though, that editing LOD's may require the model to be recompiled in some way. Only way to do that is to have the original model file.

Hello, Here's a short video to demonstrate the Level of detail changes as I observe a Caravelle. Notice near the end. Only 1 or 3 landing gears is visible. It's a little too soon. Then a bit later when the aircraft is very far away, it appears to have all landing gears. I'm zoomed at 75% which is the recommended zoom for 1920x1080 wide screen. link
