Wow - P3Dv6 came out unnannounced, and nobody here has mentioned it! How is it for AI? Any users on this forum?
Given I will NEVER buy MSFS as its a pile of ***** for AI, I need to know!

I haven't bought it,yet,and might skip it for the subscription scheme. Guess, you'll have to try it first and let us know. 😏 But, I heard ai, amongst other parts, has been improved.

It's interesting that they've renamed the Academic license to the Personal license. Other than that I'd imagine the AI functions similarly (BGLs and the like), though I've heard some rumors about addon incompatibility so I am going to stick with V5 for the time being. Still FSX at it's core.  |

Supertrafficboard is the addon I have most concern for. |

Well I'm pleased to report that I've installed it, and all works fine! AI fully compatible. Supertrafficboard required a bit of thought, but I've got it to work. As long as it's already installed on your system for v5, and you can just copy the deploy folder from the v5 to the V6 add-ons.
Lighting is much better in V6, looks stunningly realistic. The same with all Fsx - P3D versions make sure you have photoscenery installed as the default is awful. (I use fsearthtiles)
ADE is a little problematic. It does work but buggy, and a similar issue of the terminals bleeding through as in v5

I wonder if the ADE issue is as simple to fix as it is in V5 with a little exclusion magic.

Lockheed have clearly changed something behind the scenes as the ADe files don't compile without first removing a bunch of duplicated Comms frequencies from each major airport. Also ADe doesn't recognise most of the V6 library objects, which I suppose is to be expected. Despite the fact they all look the same as the v5 objects haha. |

Other notes on V6 discovered so far:
Load times and frame rates are much better than v5, even on my laptop!
AI aircraft have all so far worked with no modifications whatsoever
Some bmp textures appear odd and ideally to be converted to DDS
All add-on scenery so far worked out of the box
I copied my entire aircraft and scenery directories from v5 and there were no errors when loading. Amazing really.

I'm moderately sure that the folks behind ADE will make it V6 compatible.
How substantial are the framerate improvements? That might just convince me to switch over if my airplanes swap just as easily.

MSFS can eat their heart out! The framerates are much much better than V5. The lighting however is stunning. Water better, and the reflections / visual effects. v5 scenery / aircraft works with no modifications, and they have done something in the engine that lights all of these old objects in the same modern manner.
