Anyone ever run into a scenery that has an AFCAD file included, but the default from FS9 still prevails, making the planes park and taxi in weird places? Any ideas on how to get the sim to overlook the default file? My LMML scenery has gone sideways and I'm not sure how. I seem to remember ADE used to have a nifty "ADE Killer" that would help delete default AFCADS, so that this wouldn't happen - but that utility doesn't work anymore and is not included in the recent releases of ADE.

If it is the older Aerosoft/Sim-wings scenery you are talking about, I had the same problem. I do not know how I solved it but try to recompile the ADE/AFCAD2 file in ADE and see what happens. In my FS9 setting I tried to make multiple runways in use for landing and takeoff. But from what I recall, not always do AI traffic use them accordingly like in all the other airports I have. Somehow AI traffic from the northwest parking ramp near the maintenance hangars use the main runway for takeoff, although the smaller runway 06/24 is closer.
what I did make is an 'ALT' altitude file with ADE which puts it into the world/scenery folder.

funk - Tried recompiling the AFCAD in ADE9. Got a couple small errors fixed and it recomiled. Sadly, it's still a lower priority than the default AFCAD. Still got planes parking and taxiing on the default file. Should I move the AFCAD file to the world/scenery file? I've never run into where the default file is a higher priority and won't relinquish control.

Obvious question: did you try moving the new afcad to the add-on scenery folder?

chrisP: Oh yes - I thought it being in a separate "payware" folder may have been the cause. I moved the whole scenery file to the 'Addon Scenery' folder and renamed the scenery.cfg entry.

I've never run into where the default file is a higher priority and won't relinquish control. Open the AFCAD2 file inside ADE program and change the altitude to something else then the default elevation of 300, say 295 feet and compile the AFCAD2 with ADE. now go back and revert the altitude change to the default elevation of 300 feet and compile the AFCAD2 file with ADE again. Now what will happen is that still you reverted to the default elevation of 300 feet the ADE compiler will still make an altitude file and puts it inside the world/scenery folder. That should do the trick and override the default AFCAD2. regards Alex

funk: So I tried this and it didn't work. Do I need to compile the AFCAD to the new alt, run the sim, and then adjust the alt back to what it was?

whilst all obvious things - have you searched your entire FS directory for files called LMML? (in case of conflicts, maybe you have an old AFCAD you made somewhere) and also double check the World/Scenery folder to see what _ALT files you have there, to make sure there is not more than one for LMML, and check when they were created to see which update you made that they correlate with.

perficad: That was a good idea - Checked and there was 2 _ALT files related to LMML. Got rid of those, recompiled everything like funk said, and still... it's being stubborn...

I moved the whole scenery file to the 'Addon Scenery' folder and renamed the scenery.cfg entry. So, as I understand it you currently have this scenery in "Addon Scenery". Whether it is there or in its own defined scenery directory, my thought is that you need to place the AFD file to load AFTER the scenery. This should let it take priority. In my setup I have a scenery directory specifically for such files that need to load after a scenery's own files, this is right at the end of my scenery.cfg listing. John

After a lot of trial and error, funk and I have figured out what what going on with LMML and a few other airports. Got another question for you all: What tool is it that identifies what airports are in specific default .bgl's? I think to get my URMT scenery working correctly, I need to get rid of the default AFCAD in AP959150.bgl (scenery/eure, I believe), but I do not want to get rid of any other airports in the process.

Most of the time I use AFX Programm fromm flight1. You can make an afcad2 File Just with the blank coordinates. That will exclude the Default Airport without going to touch the APxxxxx.bgl File.
If you look at the airports calclassic made to ‘delete’ the newer airports, they use that technique.
If you want to fully deleted thet Airport fromm the Default APxxxx.bgl file you have to save all the individual airports in that file seperately, like with your LMML afcad2.
