Greetings, everyone! This is my first post here and am looking forward to start adding Retro AI traffic to my FS - hope you don't mind a couple of rookie questions I'm still using good ol'FS9 (been at flightsim since before FS98, I believe) but never really dived into AI as I was mainly flying bush aircraft and scenery. I'm trying to correct that fault now So, for starters I searched here for JAL flightplans. I decided to go with this link: retroai.proboards.com/thread/4170/fp-jal-1988I suppose I'll have to copy those 3 sections into three .txt files and compile them with TrafficTools, for instance. My main problem is being the aircraft part (and this is being made worse because of the recent changes in flightsim.com library, for instance) 1) How do I know if these particular set of aircraft/airports/plans will work in FS9? 2) As there is no indication of files and authors, how can I find both the repaints and the base models? Apollogies if I'm missing something really basic here! Blue skies, Joao

Hello. Welcome to the glorious world of retroai. To answer your question: 1. When researching the authors posts from recent years, he links many FS2004 files, meaning he most likely uses that sim and as such his files are for FS2004/ACOF. 2. Most repaints can be found on avsim. There's also Brian's ai project, which focuses on the 1980s and, of course, Mike's (Pearson) repaints. On a side note, I would not really consider this particular JAL 1988 set of flight plans for the reason that JA8119 is still used, which crashed on August 12th, 1985. Of course you can re-edit the registration prior converting into a bgl, but that would give you an extra 747SR,without registration. Hope that helps you. Kind regards.

Greetings, Sunking! Thank you for your reply - and yes it helped The problem is being not so much the repaints but the base models: today (2023) theya re very hard to find; many are already dead websites (although I've been able to reach some of them through the wayback machine) I'm just starting to get the hang of it, so hopefully it will get better from here on Kind regards, too Joao

A quick message to many of us in the forum can solve almost any problem you may have I have a very large archive of paints and models, everything from the early ProjectAI models to custom paints I've made for the FAIB models and lots of other stuff. Feel free to reach out if you're having trouble finding something - there's a solid chance I've run across it or have it myself. If you're looking for flight plans to start from, I'd highly recommend either Chasen's 1998 Project or Brian's 1983 Project, both of which can be found in the flight plans forum. They are each about as complete as it gets in terms of covering the world with AI in their respective eras. The 1998 project contains links to every paint that is known to be available for each flight plan, and the 1983 project has dozens of paints available done by Brian himself. All of the plans mentioned above are FS9 compatible. I'd also highly recommend using AI Flight Planner, a free tool that is available for download, to compile your flight plans over TTools these days. It is a much more comprehensive and complete swiss army knife for working with AI flight plans. Of course, as I'm sure you're aware, there are dozens upon dozens of other options and flight plans available, with new ones popping up pretty frequently. Good luck and have fun going back in time Chris
