Hi (Chris) I have almost all your repaints installed at the moment while I'm building up a complete 70'ies environment in FSX. Everything works great, lovely paints from your and colleagues. Only one seem to give me some trouble, so I wondered if you have painted this particular aircraft in an other way then normally Try to guess the airline: (well, it is hard to see, but it should be ACA)

(you might want to edit the post title to "DC-8-52" ) check that the texture folder contains the following files: dc852ai.bmp dc852ai_l.bmp wings.bmp wings_l.bmp The problem can be as simple as the matter of an extra dot or space...

Nice caught :-) the 8 of cause!
Nope all is in place, I' have installed along 500 aircraft these days and this one is the only one teasing ;-)
All four file exists, installed them twice, even again today from a direct download from AVSIM, just to be sure that my local copy wasn't corrupted....
One thing though, the lightmap file has exact the same size as the texture file, whereas the lightmap file use to be a lot smaller?
Maybe I should just take a small peak at your Air Afrique?, as the filesizes are equal there too ...just a moment.

Yes sure enough: Must be some FSX thing... It's only your 52-textures, all the others show just fine.... hm..alpha? Size? I don't know.

As a matter of fact I think that it is tha Alpha that is the problem in FSX..... Unfortunately I'm not able to remove the alpha, so I can't be sure, but my instincts say so ;-)
I think that FSX uses Alpha differently than FS9, as I've seen this problem elsewhere as well
If you could try to remove the alpha channel form them and send them to me by mail, I could try them out?

Actually, come to think of it, it might also be due to the model...? Really I dont know.
JAL, Loftleidir shows fine, but ACA and AFR dosen't.
the air file is: DC-8-52 AI.air from 22JUN04 the mdl file is: DC-8-52 AI.mdl from 23JUL05
Dose that give you any clues?
I must say I'm a bit bewildered, not being a painter myself, so I won't know the ins and outs of how to make a repaint...

Oh, I feel so ashamed !
Here I am, a FS-veteran, and didn't even bother to check the model.cfg file.....
The entry was set wrongly, thus referring a wrong mdl-file....
I know that Chris makes some excellent repaints, and I couldn't get it out of my head that this was a faulty paint, so after a small research I found that wrong model parameter.....
All is showing very nicely now, and I'm very sorry to have stirred any waters.....
No on to Braniff ....

All my aircraft are DXT3 with alpha, no mips. FS2002 has a tendency to do funny things with alpha layers. Removing the alpha should fix the problem for fs2002 (just open the texture in Imagetool, change the format to 24-bit and back to dxt3 before saving - make a backup first, though )
