Hey All: Which are the best smoke effects for retro AI? Specifically for AIA 727s NAAI 707-320B AIG DC-9s DW DC-8 all series FAIB 737-200 Thanks in advance. There are a variety of smoke effects available out there that you can use. The TCAI models (Il-62, Tu-154) have some really nice "holy smoker" effects which can be utilized for old-school 707s and DC-8s. The TCAI models use two different smoke effects which are doubled up on the aircraft.cfg entries. These are useful for any of the older aircraft you mentioned. Unfortunately, the TCAI FS9 models are currently unavailable, as their website has gone away. However, I am working on P3D conversions for them which will be available in the next month or so, and those effects will be with my conversion packages. I plan to include the original FS9 models with my release work, for the die-hards of that obsolete sim, lol. Other comparable effects are Nick Needham's AI 707 and C-130 effects, which are available in various MAIW packages from MAIW's website (Military AI Works). The C-130 effect is a smaller (thinner) smoke line, so it can be used for the smaller jets. Lastly, the SKJ or SBAI An-12 packages come with an An-12 smoke effect which is also comparable, but a little dirtier than the C-130 effect. Hope this gets you pointed in the right direction. :{)

FSMuseum made very good smoke effects I use in my sim, he gave them to me to share but I forgot. Work in FS9 thru P3Dv5 alike. You just install the effect (drag and drop in the textures/effects folders) then add lines to the "lighting" section of the aircraft.cfg so that the strobe lights trigger the smoke.

Well the effects are from Nick Needham...
I prefer the 727 smoke effects since they give a nice smoke trail. But change them as you like.
