Hey all,
So, sometime ago I inherited the Retro AI Facebook group from Kris and had been handling it all solo. I've been toying with adding a few Mods to the group just to take some load off, I tend to keep an eye on it, ,but I have had some member requests fall through the cracks on me.
So tonight, I've made The Christian's Moderators. So Christian Gold and Chris Page are the newest mods there. If you're not already a member of there, swing by. Mr. Gold has been really lighting it up posting a TON of his latest works.

Haha "The Christians". Good choices for sure, glad to hear it. Congrats guys!
A little off topic, but speaking of Sir Kris, I've been playing around with basic coding and I think an installer for RAI flightplans(not just 1998) is a lot more attainable than I thought. We would have to re-format many of the plans posted here, but I've already learned a few lines of the code, how to have the installer point to the URL of a texture/model, ect. Now that this appears to be a matter of "when" and not "if", I was thinking it is only fitting we name the installer after Kris so that all future retro users know his name.
That said, if anyone reading this(lurkers too, now is your chance to help) is familiar with the coding to make aircraft.cfg entries like so many different installers can do or any other function needed to install textures and models once the installer grabs them off the internet, please reach out and we can make this a reality. It is a lot to learn, but not unattainable. I am sure once this exists, the community will grow exponentially, kind of like AIG and MAIW did when they finally had auto-installers.
Hopefully before long, the hard work of everyone here can be enjoyed by those who don't have to will to learn manual installation or the time to do so.

So 2021 is already off to a better start lol, and I second the name for Kris Kristaller? I'll see myself out.

Kristaller LOL!!!! I didn't think about that, I was just going to go with the Kristopher Cook RAI Installer or something. RAI Kristaller. Hmm...LOL
But yeah, the reality is this stuff takes so long, I'm only maybe 50% through installing Brian's 1983 stuff, and less than that with the 2003 MRAI plans as well(I really wish they did the livery variations it takes forever to figure those out). An installer is the only way to make retro traffic more accessible and popular, which everyone will benefit from.

You can do pretty much all of that now with AIFP. The author just has to spend the time building the AIFP.cfg file. Once you load the zip into AIFP, it will go through, find missing paints, download the proper version for your system, install the paints and then install the flightplans. It's not one click, but it's less than 10. As an example, I attached Surinam Airways flightplans below. Use AIFP to open the zip and let it do most of the work. The only reason I don't do AIFP versions normally is that I prefer when all paints are available since it works better.

Yes and while this is true(and a big advancement), it is still a bit too complicated I think for the average user, who is simply a casual flight simmer who wants to see traffic, and I think it does not install models for you. They want ORBX\AIG\MAIW\MRAI\Project AI type installers that do it all for them. I have pointed many, many people asking about installers for the 1998 stuff to AIFP, and they usually give up on it, sadly.
