My only issue is that some of these (extremely talented) artists only paint for a snapshot of time within the service life of the particular aircraft, and my projects have been fairly if not completely comprehensive. If I pick a particular shade of paint for an airline, and it doesn't quite match what somebody else has painted, I have no moral crisis doing the complete paint run over the life of the aircraft use. It's quite simple, if you want to use it, feel free, if you like somebody else's work better, same rule applies, and I sleep nights..... For example, my CFG fleet is hodge-podge in my sim, from multiple authors, so if I do the CFG 747s, it will be part of a comprehensive CFG project to include 707/727/737/747/767/Airbus, most likely color-matched to Jason's DC-10s. Same deal for the DLH and GEC side of things. I waited until DLH was probably the last large-scale 747 project left to paint, and my painting which is not better, just different, will contain some variants not addressed by the other two packages. Remember, my first rule of painting is to have no ego. I'm not painting to one-up anybody, or step on somebody else's quality work. I paint for what I want in my sim world, and I share, it's about as basic as that. I don't trash anybody who volunteers their time to make the hobby a little better for all. Between Brian W. and Ranmori, I have a complete CAL 1980-2000 747 fleet that doesn't have any apparent gaps, and I am extremely grateful for that, so don't think I feel I have to repaint the whole world if it is already done. :{)

I believe I am right in saying that the colouring of aircraft does fade after time due to various factors.Sun,Wind, rain etc.

Here is where I am going with this. There are a lot of web-color references for DLH on the internet, but after looking at gobs of photos, the blue is where I want it to be. Some of the web sources have it almost an indigo/purple color, which doesn't agree with the photos. These are all of the PW-engined pax -130s and -230Bs for DLH and its little brother CFG, from 1970-1978 or so, I think all of these were gone from DLH by the early 80s, and none made it to the 1988 scheme. Early -230Bs were almost indistinguishable from from the -130s, same JT9D-3A engines with the intake doors and 3-window tops. Unless somebody can prove me wrong (hint), CFG had the only 10-window PW-engined early 747s in the fleet. :{)

I always like GE and RR 742s. Something about the normal JT9D cowling just doesn't sit right with me, and it disappoints me that the JT9D-70A didn't take off because it's a much more pleasing engine externally and visually.

Don't worry, DLH Cargo is coming, I was working on the one time-consuming serial that makes it complete, I hope to be done by tonight. Anyways, I took a break from blue and went red..... Minus the freighter, which I can't find any pix of, this is the complete NXA fleet for 1990-1993. The two ex-SAB aircraft I took liberties with since they were in SAB colors all the way up to 1993 when they ended up on the scrap heap, but this is the last known colors before the end. NXA has them listed for 1993, so not sure if they actually flew revenue flights or were just hanging around since NXA folded soon afterwards. If anybody has OO-SGA and SGB in actual NXA colors, please let me know. I will probably be adding a vcpmod callsign for them unless I find one in the usual places, I currently don't have one in the thousands of vcpmod files I have squirreled away. Yeah, I can make those, too, the truly demented of us in the hobby become jacks-of-all-trades in these things, lol. :{)

Okay, I got it done. The 1998 D-ABYF is completely in the spirit of the sim world, definitely not for accuracy. I used some stock globe images I found on the internet, not anything close to the real deal. I had to overcome the curse of the 4-sided texture map, and this one took nearly a week of on again-off again work. I'm sure there are about twenty things wrong with this paint, but I am actually happy how it turned out, and I am not sure it's ever been painted before. I am packaging everything to date for release this afternoon. My only other hope is that Ranmori will do it (correctly and accurately) in the future, lol. :{)

One note - ABYE never had the side-cargo door. It was part of the original batch that only had the nose door.

So, I am not in the habit of painting all of the one-offs or extremely rare leases that flew for a few weeks, but this one caught my eye.... Balair did its annual shareholder junket flight to Venice on 11 May 1975, and got this one-day rental from the mother-ship..... It still carries the SWR titles on the starboard side and had the "Zurich" titles removed, so don't think I forgot something, lol. This was about a two-minute paint after doing the SWR run, and it's a nice what-if to decide if it continues to fly in the sim world. A big thanks to Stefan for digging this one up. :{)

Here's a couple of Caribbean jumbos, I am working on a couple more this weekend.... The DOA aircraft is the same aircraft, two different serials across two or three years' use. There is another AJM 741 in EIN colors, I am sorting that out within the week, and one more from the Dominicans, should have that one done by Sunday. :{)
