Yes, they should according to his statement. Not sure about P3D v4, though. Maybe someone can post a screenshot of the models? Kind regards.

Do the old original repaints still work with the new DC-9 models I don't think so, I tried to no avail. The MD-87's and 727's *existing* textures *will* work with the *updated* models. Just to make things clear on the matter: In the words of Sir David Rawlins: "If the models are upgrades (727 and MD-87), you need to have the AIA 727's (several versions) and MD-87 already installed." "Then just drop the new model folders into the aircraft folder for the specific aircraft type." "The 727 air stair upgrades will work with existing repaints, just change the "model=" line in the aircraft.cfg to point to the air stair version of the model." "The MD-87 upgrade is a specific firefighting upgrade, you can use it with already existing repaints, but you probably won't like the result." "If the models are new (everything else), meaning they have never been released, you can just drop them into your Aircraft Folder and you are done." "The new models all have some pre-installed repaints included." Nothing on existing textures with the DC-9's working. Gotta get a paintkit for those models. Texture mapping is very different b/w the two DC-9 models.

Well as for the Md-87 update I found out if you play a little with the alpha layer of the texture you can blend the cargo pod out. Then the updated model will fit to your existing paints of the older model.

Does the new "Firefighting" MD-87 have any further updates beyond the extra pods slung under the a/c? I don't remember any air-stairs or anything else that stood out from the original model.

It has extending slats and flaps on takeoff mod. That is what I really like with the updated models.

What you basicaly have to do is to blend out the cargo pod of the new texture. somehow I am not able to attach any pictures because of space limitation.
let me explain step by step.
1. you will open up the new texture "aia_md87_t.bmp" of one of the erickson tanker paints with the tool dxtbmp. 2. compare this texture with one of your old model texture which has the same name "aia_md87_t.bmp". 3. you will see at the upper right of the erickson tanker texture that there is a cargo pod between the fuselage and the engines. 4. what you do now paint the cargo pod with black so that you will have a black square where the cargo pod was. 5. now with the rest of the texture overpaint it with white. use cut out. 6. save the new texture as 24bit bmp. 7. now open the old texture and cut and copy the 24bit bmp above that texture and use transparency so that you will only see the black square get added to your old texture. 8. now reload the texture and create alpha channel (black). 9. open the alpha channel and make sure you see the black square at the same position where it is in your texture. 10. save the texture and your done.
