All these paints you've been doing are wonderful, especially the african ones, Trident

Hi noob21. Thanks. To be honest, I got into repainting because I got fed up with going over to Avsim and Flightsim and hoping I will find a gem of a classic/rare repaint, but only to be disappointed due to the overabundance of modern airliners with their (ugly) billboard type liveries. I mean how many TUI 737s, Emirates A3XX, United merger types, etc.... can one endure. I go to these sites now and skim through the downloads quickly, completely bypassing anything PMDG, and post 1995 liveries. Give me the classic airliners any day.
I like to repaint airlines that don't get a mention on the above 2 sites. Thus, the African airline repaints. I am actually repainting Air Mali's 727-100, and 737-200Adv now, though not AI aircraft. Air Mali is one African airline you'd have a hard time finding repaints for.
As for my inspiration, I look at the great repainters in AI: my fellow Aussie, Jason ( who has sadly given up the hobby), Chris P, Mike Pearson, Peter Lidell, among others.
Cheers Ted

Heh, I didn't expect such a long winded response. Well, keep up the great work, you are quite the good painter and maybe someday I'll figure out how to do it well enough to contribute to the rest of the community.

Same here, agree. I began flying to Canada in the mid 1970s, and to me, THAT and THOSE are real airliners. Oh, I know, progress, business, etc. I totally understand the evolution of the air transport business. But for my fun, I much prefer the late 70s era, both for liveries and aircraft types.

Heh, I'm sure we all can agree here that modern "aesthetics" aren't very aesthetically pleasing, and that doesn't just apply to the aeronautical industry, that applies to most stuff we're stuck with nowadays.

As a late teen in 1980, I remember flying on an Altalia 747-200 from Australia to Italy, and that was one wonderful flight. The "air hostesses", as they were known back then, were very friendly and the service on the flight was exemplary. Also, the seats were wider and more comfortable. The overall experience made me want to fly again and again. Fast forward to today. I fly regularly and I can tell you, I can't wait for the flight to end so I can get out of the darn plane. The service is basic at best, and the seats are far too narrow and tight. You feel like cattle being transported to the slaughterhouse. Not gratifying at all.

Man do I wish I was around during those days, but alas, I was passed up those opportunities. I never even got to fly on a plane before 9/11.

Here are the two airliners to supplement John Hinson's Air Niger 1980 flightplan (DC-6 & F-27). While I was at it I also repainted a DC-4, that the airline used in the 1960s. This is not in the flightplan though. Maybe it will be in another flightplan in some future time. I utilized Mike Pearson's DC-4 & DC-6, and Dee Waldron's F-27 for the repaints. Just called by and found these wonderful paint jobs - thank you very much indeed and I look forward to installing them when life returns to normal. On my web site (link below) you will find Air Niger FPs for 1967 taken from the OAG for 1 x DC-4 and 1 x DC-3 which may be of use for the DC-4. Best regards, John
