FAIB total polys: ~24500 AIA total polys: ~23590
So the model file sizes should be about on par, which means that the FAIB model won't eat up much more of MSFS' virtual address space.
Other than that, a lot of polygons to render in a single frame does put some strain on the video hard ware and bus connections.

For the impact of the poly count on display and what's supposed to be a multi-poly _AI_ model, see www.ai-aardvark.com/modeling/LOD_101/aia_LOD.htmlShort version: the _total_ poly count has no bearing on the performance hit due to a particular model. What affects performance is the poly count of the LOD being _displayed_. I also disagree with the often-heard "current computers are fast enough to bear it" proposition. Think of the number of 744s at Heathrow in the '90... Now add other max detail models (737s, etc...). Why not also add an ultra-high terminal as well... You get the idea. Basic fact is that, on average, CPU power doubles every year and a half, and that's way less than the total increase in the number of displayed polys you get by using high-def models. As Jason pointed out, the FAIB 744 has more than double the poly count of the AIA one for the first two LODs. So, going for high poly count models will hit you pretty quickly. Btw, if a rig can handle the number of 9k poly 744s you'll get at EGLL in the '90s, why bother with AI models in the first place? Any POSKY 747 wil do. My 2 cents'...

... and already installed Would love to see more of the FAIB B744 in retro colors. My wishlist would be.... * Lufthansa in 90ies c/s (w/o Star Alliance sticker) * Air India * British Airways in Landor and World Tail c/s * Northwest Airlines * United Airlines (Saul Bass, Battleship Grey and Tulip) * Thai Airways * Air France * Japan Airlines .. and much more I hope that our talented painters have the plan to paint them one after the other.

I would wish to see the New FAIB replacing the AIA aircraft especially in FSX and especially the PAI 747 SP.
Singapore Airlines Megatop and British Airways would be great, besides a Northwest Orient 747-400.
But, I doubt so, as the paints seem more demanding. :/
Kind regards.
