Cgold, do you have a release date in mind for retro kpit?? @bjoern: Oh yes! There are some details. Here is the finished project. (for now...) 777jafo: I do plan on releasing it but it would be a "take-it-as-it-is" release. It's part of an existing KPIT scenery due to the AFCAD being close enough to work with. I had to take out 2 runways to keep the planes from misbehaving. I wish I could figure out how to get multiple runways in use (like FSDT or Aerosoft does.) What would be really nice is for the express aircraft to land on one runway and the jets to use the other 3. But as I understand it, the only way to give that illusion is to have multiple AFCADS and I can't see a way to do that at KPIT.

Woah, AWESOME JOB! Very interested in learning how to do all this, as making retro scenery is more appealing to me than all this flightplanning.

It's just a matter of Airport Design Editor and finding enough source material to work with.
Modeling buildings, however, is an entire art unto itself and should never be attempted by the impatient.

The ground textures are great, I'm curious how you went about painting them.

I think these are just replacements for the generic FS9 concrete groud textures and the gate numbers are ground polygons placed by hand.
Christian: Google "Crosswind runway tutorial". Depending on the airport, it's a bit of a hassle to set up, but in the end, it works kind of well.

Depending on the airport, it's a bit of a hassle to set up, but in the end, it works kind of well. You are correct, sir. Replaced lots of default textures over the years. The gate stands, oil stains, and gate #'s are all objects placed by hand using Abacus EZ-Scenery. I did try the crosswind tutorial at LFPO and never did get it to work. That's why I split the AFCAD into effectively 2 airports: LFPO and 2FPO. If you employ the same freq's as the regular airport for the "new" one, it looks and sounds (over ATC) legit. LFPO took some engineering (in AFCAD) to split up but it turned out rather well. Even KLGA works. But KPIT would be much harder to split due to its diverse customer base and the actual shape of the field. :'-(

It could very well be that FS9 does not support crosswind operations.

Hi,
I have many crosswind airports working just fine in FS9, so that's not it.

I have certain airports that run multiple runways (ORD, LAX, etc.) but trying to employ that tactic is tough. Are there any tutorials that anyone recommends for idiots like me?

Sooooooo.... after much delay, I've released my edits to the KPIT scenery shown above. The scenery is originally FRF(?) - the old terminal is a conversion of Bjoern's terminal object. I've edited the AFCAD for AI optimization - not scenery value. Hopefully, planes will behave. Please let me know what shows on y'alls end - I may be able to troubleshoot.

Hi,
I was wondering if the 60's KPIT terminal of Nick's was still around? I am thinking about doing a 1960s KPIT, and that would really help. I would appreciate it! tgibson at sdsu dot edu.
Thanks,

I got some KPIT running on my old FS9 platform. It is with the intigrated old Terminal Bjoern did a couple years ago plus some extra candy for the ANG base.
