Hi everyone,
I have been a long time lurker and just signed up to the forum.
I need a little assistance on adding retro airliners to FSX or P3D 1.4 ( I have both sims on my computer). I am at my wit's end. i have been trying in vain to get the planes to show up on FSX to no avail.
I am not exactly a novice when it comes to the aircraft.cfg, I have made sure that all lines (ie. sim, model, texture , etc.) match the aircraft. I have also used the AIFP program to convert the traffic text files to FSX .bgl files. I placed the BGL file to scenery/world/scenery, and the aircraft in the sim objects/airplanes folder. I fired up FSX and went to the airports that the aircraft should have been at, but nothing showed up. Is there anything that someone here could suggest?
I am a mad retro airline fan, and I would love to populate my airports with 707s, cv 880s/990s, comets, Tridents, Dc-8s, and the like, so any help would be appreciated.
cheers Ted

Two possibilities:
1) Aircraft shadows are enabled.
2) A flightplan in FS9 format is still present somewhere in the folder.

Hey Ted, Welcome (I suppose ) to the forums! I don't use FSX anymore but I still have a wide knowledge on it. Try making a folder in Addon Scenery (something like 'RetroAI' or whatever you choose) and then make another folder inside that called 'scenery' and move the traffic BGLs into that and add it to the scenery library. That usually worked for me with this problems. Cheers, Chris

Bjoern's listing is what is usually wrong for me.
However, there is one other possibility. If you are using an OS later than XP and if you have FS installed in a Program Files folder, I have had reports of planes not showing up, due to the OS refusing to load the added planes.

Hi guys, sorry for not replying earlier. Firstly Chris, I actually did do what you suggested before and that didn't work for me. Bjoern and Tom, my OS is windows 7, and yes, my FSX is indeed in a program files folder. However, my p3d is in the D/ directory and that also does not show the air aircraft. I suppose I will look for and take out any fs9 type BGLs from my scenery/world/scenery folder and try again Thanks to eveyone for your help
