That Twotter better be right over I-25! When I used to get my butt kicked on that Vomit Comet, going from Stapelton to FE Warren International, (Cheyenne) & back. That plane never left sight of the Interstate. How Ya Feeling there Bud? Ready to go to Barrow yet? Got some Positive space tickets....

Got some Positive space tickets.... the shot was taken with the plane on the west side of downtown, so it's right over I-25, turning away for 8R at Stapleton. I don't know when I'm going to have the time to leave. I feel pretty good, but things aren't so good inside. I have to have more tests done a week from Monday because they found a "suspect area" on my liver during a CT scan. It could be just a cyst, but it could also be a tumor, they aren't sure yet, so I'm having more tests done. I swear I've been poked so many times that my arms probably rival those of your average Portland heroin junkie...

Cool repaints, you have definetely mastered metal textures and all the best, Kris.
BTW, what is it about the "Allisons", a difference in models?

Like Christian said, it's a reference to the CV-580's engines, Allison 501s, the same powerplant as on the Lockheed L-188 Electra. The CV-580 was a CV-340 or CV-440 that had be re-engined with the Allison engines. The CV-600 (flown by Frontier for a short time in the late 1960's after the takeover of Central, also flown by Texas International) as a CV-240 re-engined with Rolls-Royce Darts, and the CV-640 was a CV-340 or CV-440 re-engined with Darts. Frontier loved the 580 because of its incredible power-to-weight ratio, which allowed it to operate with great success on their high-elevation routes through the Rockies. It was also a workhorse for North Central because of its ability to operate in the extreme weather conditions on their system. There really was never a good replacement - Republic and Northwest kept them around for the old NCA routes before trying more modern types, none of which performed as well as the 580. The 580, because of all that power to spare, could take on quite a load of ice before it ran into trouble.
