www.retroai.org/download/repaints/SO404.zipNot yet on Avsim, wanted to get some impressions first. You'll need Tom Gibson's AI 404 model from www.calclassic.com, as these are textures only. NOTE: I am aware of the "misaligned" texture on the nose - This is due to a flaw in the model and there are no current plans to fix it that I'm aware of. Also, if anyone has the Southeast M-404 that I did, could you send me a copy?

Hi, Not sure what you mean about the misaligned texture on the nose. Are you using the latest MDL (dated 9/20/06)? Here is what my SOU livery looks like: Hope this helps,

Here is what my SOU livery looks like: Hope this helps, I must be using an old model. I had thought you had updated it after that misalignment was noted a while ago, but I wasn't sure. I'll download the new model and go from there...thanks!

You are correct, no 404s were ever painted in the final blue-on-white scheme. By the time Southern began repainting its DC-9 fleet, they had Metros on order to replace the 404s. I guess they decided against incurring the added expense of repainting them when their days were numbered, so they stayed in the earlier livery. One not about the 404, many passengers in cities where the Metros replaced the 404s were very upset at the change. They had gone from a large, comfortable cabin with in-flight service and a bathroom to a cramped cabin most adults could not stand up in, no service, and no bathroom. It saved Southern money on paper, but who knows how many passengers they lost or never gained by downgrading the service like they did?

An idea on that, Horizon flew the Metro's up until 1998 and did quite well. Of course the only thing before it was the F-27. I think it depended upon the compettion and what they were flying against you. In our case SkyWest was & still puts EMB-120 against us. So that may be what the thinking was at the time. A question, did after the Republic merger some North Central's CV580's make on to any of those routes?

Yes, they lasted all throughout Republic's days and several made it over to Northwest, being retired in the late 1980's

I think I needed to rephrase the question better. I knew the CV-580's lasted until NWO took over, in fact I flew on them 2 days after visitng Mom & Dad, before the buyout. The question should have been did the CV-580 fly on EX Southern Routes? I think it is kinda cool to the think the venrable 580 went from the frigid cold of International Falls Minn, to the balmy beaches of Florida.

Not that I am aware of, a lot of the Metro/404 SO cities were dropped by Republic after the merger.
