Hi All. Just to let you know my PC is dead. Left it defragging, came back several hours later and its as dead as a Doh Doh! I have to have a look as to what has croaked, but the PSU is my first suspect. OK, better go as this laptop has no AV or firewall!! See you soon (I hope). Paul

Hi all.
A quick update.
The Emermax 600W PSU is the culprit.
I tried plugging the PC into another mains supply and as soon as I turned the PSU switch to on, it blew the fuse!!. Checked its cable and the fuse is dead in that as well.
The PC PSU will be replaced soon as I have other matters to sort out now, like water coming through the light fitting in the dining room!!
That's two problems so what will be the third??
OK, same laptop so no protection so I'll keep you up to date on the PC front.
Paul

Paul Oh, you could be like the guy I talked with today, who had a server with water damage - 3 hot-swap redundant PSUs that dripped water when he pulled them out. He said something like "I think this system is pretty much dead..." You THINK? When you have water inside the PSUs, just be glad you knew about it and didn't try to the power the thing up, or we wouldn't be talking. Poor guy, it was out of warranty, so he was going to buy new PSUs and pray it woorks - but most likely, he's probably going to have to go to his bosses and get approval to replace the machine - it was an older box, so current equivalent will easily set them back $20K US, give or take.

Hi All. Water leak fixed, house getting back to normal. Laptop now has AV and Firewall installed. New PSU bought and fitted, but PC still dead. I have power now, but it looks like the Motherboard might be fried. All the right power lights are on, but nobody is home. No monitor activity, or any attempt to go through the post boot checks. Well I can't afford a new motherboard just yet, one of the reasons is a bright shiny new car that will be two weeks old this Friday. I just hope that the HD's are still intact otherwise I will be a very unhappy bunny! Allegheny 1979 was complete and ready for testing and some others were not that far away. I will try and borrow another PCIe graphics card just in case my almost new GeForce FX7950 GX2 has fried. Not good news at all. I'll keep in contact via my laptop. Good news is that is setup for doing flightplans so when I feel like it I'll be able to start on something whilst I save some money up to get the replacement Motherboard. Paul
