It's for the FSPainter model, but search Avsim for: nwab742.zip

Could you send those my way as well? The FSPainter model is decent, but it's older and a bit rougher-looking, IMO than the AIA.

Does this one work? "aia_nw_orient_742pw.zip" @ Avsim

Does this one work? "aia_nw_orient_742pw.zip" @ Avsim A-ha! There's why I didn't find it, even though I knew it was out there. It's listed as "742PW" and I searched under the obvious - "Northwest Orient 747"...d'oh! That'll teach me for thinking in obvious terms... ;D And, didn't you do a take on that plane, or did the AI-Aardvark site miscredit it?

No, this is not my old NW 742 repaint. Most of the old ones have been removed from Avsim by my request. Looking back, it was one of the usual "childish FS-things", nothing worth to talk about. Whatever is missing will be re-uploaded, most of the old stuff had too many issues anyway.

It's funny how things work sometimes - the very first plane I ever downloaded was Paul's lime green Braniff 727 for FS5 - had to figure out the FSFS Converter to even use it - after which I promptly planted it in Long Island Sound after stalling on takeoff from LaGuardia for Dallas. I used the original AirTeam panel, which I later modified and released. Here it is almost 10 years later, and Paul's now part of RAI. Of course, Tom Gibson and I go back almost as far - my first add-on ever uploaded was the original Amon Carter in June of 1998, and hopefully (once I finally get them to him), the newer files will be used by him and Mike to create a new (and much-needed) version. The more things change, the more they stay the same - at least when it comes to the retro fans.

You know, it would be nice if there was a standard way of naming these so that we could seach for them at Avsim more easily. Maybe all of the re-painters here could agree on a standard.

I don't use a naming standard, but I try to make the title and description correspond to as many search criteria as possible: for instance, my Spantax DHC-6 has also "Iberia" in the description and www.retroai.org

Andy,
I have thought the same myself, but I find that searching by the painter's name usually turns up the results I need. That's not always the best - many times I'll browse FS sites at work and make mental notes that I have to grab this or that file when I get home, and by then I've forgotten the author's name. Yeah, I know I can cut-and-paste he file info and e-mail it to my home address, but I get caught up in work and forget about it. I do like Christian's idea of putting the Retro AI URL in the file info - not only is it good advertising for us, you know that when you look for a plane under that criteria it's going to be matched to a flightplan set we have.

Trouble is, when I'm searching I usually don't know the painter's name. Putting "RAI" or "Retro ai" in there is a good idea.
