Hi retro-fans! Here are some more screenshots of my AI-world from the late 70s/early 80s. Unfortunately my system is not high-end - so please excuse the poor image quality. Thanks, Chris! I just downloaded a fairly new "Thomas Cook" flightplan and sorted a few things out here and there... ;D I'm not that fussy about correct flightplans - I just want to see the old jets appear at my airports (which are unfortunately not retro at all... ). Michael

Thanks, Chris! I just downloaded a fairly new "Thomas Cook" flightplan and sorted a few things out here and there... ;D ... Michael I think the most important thing is to delete all legs to and from the airports of the German Democratic Republic. If there is a demand I could do the German charter companies that way, not accurate but useful until betters are available. Cool pix, thanks for sharing! Ralf

You're right, Ralf!
I had to do the same with my Lufthansa-flightplan. Who wants to see LH-aircraft at Berlin-Tegel or Dresden in the days before 1990? In real life Lufthansa wouldn't have made it over there anyway - I guess any non-allied aircraft would have been shot down immediately by some MIGs just after crossing the iron curtain...
Anybody got flightplans for Pan Am, British Airways and Air France including the Berlin-flights through the corridors of the former German Democratic Republic?
Kind regards
Michael

Pan Am: I think any schedule on RAI prior to 1989 should include the inter-german service (Pan Am '84 does EDDT) Air France: AF 75 BA - not that I know of (except maybe the new BA 86); BEA did have the UK landing rights in Berlin prior to '74
To my surprise, the only Berlin airport serviced by our Air France and BEA is Schoenfeld!!!! We gotta fix that one!!
Exit runway when able.

BA86 has many "Allied Berlin flights", the LH84 timetable I'm working on lists the AF flights too, no big deal to compile them too, that should make the flights to/from Berlin complete. PS: Lufthansa had traffic rights to Leipzig, announced with their 84 timetable. Ralf

Hi Ralf, as far as I know those traffic rights were only temporary for the Leipzig Trade Fair (Leipziger Frühjahrsmesse). This was the biggest trade fair in the former German Democratic Republic - and a lot of West-German companies used to show their products there. Technology "Made in West-Germany" was very popular in the industry of the GDR - but of course the communist government in East-Berlin never officially admitted this... It would be very interesting to know how often Lufthansa flew to Leipzig during exhibition-time. Do you have any further information? Kind regards!!! Michael

You are right, the flights FRA-Leipzig are limited to a timeframe between March the 9th and March the 17th. They were scheduled on a daily base, leaving FRA early morning and early evening, plus the return flights, but I can't tell how much they did in reality.

many, many thanks! I remember being on a tour of the Lufhtansa maintenance facility in EDDF back in '76 and those planes looked HUGE from my tiny ground level... thanks for the memories
