... And here's the 721 - can't wait for Paul to upload... None of this would have been possible without Jason's 727 metallic textures - thanks! edit: darkened the metal a bit

I know what you are talking about, LOL. I work with UV maps on every repaint I do, I paste them as a layer with low opacy on top and it helps a lot seeing all the outlines of the parts. Ralf Hi Ralf. I could not get that UV map thing to work. Pressing the button had nothing happen!!! What I did in the end was to go over the metal texture layer with the eraser over every section that should not have any metal paint. Nothing was seen but the problem was cured so it must have been a very light blob!! Stefan. That 151 was on its first flight so windows and other details were not looked at or adjusted. Here is a later shot, but again not fully tweaked so some details are still wrong. Rest assured, by the time its uploaded I will have her the way I want her. All repaints have been tweaked and minor corrections made, but that is normal. As far as the windows go, this one now has the last two on the upper deck plugged (but not in the above picture). All NW 747's in 1982 (all these repaints are for 1982) had the 10 upper deck windows fitted, but the 100s seem to have the last two plugged in all the photos I have. I'll do a 200 a bit later with a full set and also for that later 80's with the flag on the tail and just NW titles. Its no problem to change to change to 3 windows. Just a couple of layer changes and a few cuts to remove my window mods. I'll also do that a bit later. Christian. The 1982 plans also use the 100. I just have not posted a picture of one yet, but I have one somewhere.... here it is. Again as she appeared in the early 80's [/URL Seems we both picked old 467 to do.
The 707 looks nice!
OK, time to get back to the AA 727-200.
Paul

Oops... Sorry - I didn't know you were also doing the 721 I won't release mine, then (two near-simultaneous releases of the same aircraft by two guys from the same group would look a bit silly)

Paul - I would use a font like Eurostile for the Northwest registrations, its alot closer than arial which I think is what you are currently using. I have the font and ill send you it if u drop me a PM (for some reason I cant get it to work in my paint shop pro though which is a pain.)
Chris - is eurostile the font your using for your registrations? just wondering because that sort of typeface seems pretty common for regs.
Great paints all the same and sorely needed. My 1985 traffic just keeps getting better! Good work on the metal too which is wear alot of Northwest paints fall down but both of your metal textures seem really great! I have yet to muster the courage to atempt a bare metal paint.

Eurostile it is.
I usually adjust the inter-character spacing and char. width to get a good match too.
edit: The 703 is available on avsim. I've updated the mega-thread.

Eurostile dug out and installed and I will update all the NW paints before they are uploaded. Christan. I will be uploading them some time next week after more testing is completed. Lots of changes done to match them up better and to sort of a few errors of my own ;D Sure looks pretty at KMSP!! Now I just have to find out why FS9 crashes at KBOS when I try to view the planes. I guess its a problem with the scenery. Christian. When I visit the NWs again to do a few variations I'll be doing a 727-051C for you as well. I will have to make a cargo door layer first. Paul

Hi all. Better late than never! I've been installing some Ai and scenery for the first time in months. I only have a very basic set up still after the re-install, but a few more airports and airlines around now OK, exclusive for Retro Ai is the Northwest Orient fleet for the 1982 flight plans here. The Zip includes the 727-100,727-200, 747-100/200 (I will do a proper 200 soon), 747-200F and the DC-10-40. All colour matched and should brighten up your sim. Download www.box.net/shared/static/n68uc2xkwo.zipEnjoy. Paul Update! I forgot to put an extra readme in the DC-10 explaining that it has been made using the DC-10-30C paint kit as there is no DC-10-40 paint kit, so that the missing engine parts for the PW's, the wings, engine mounts and a few colour squares were taken from the EVAI NW DC-10-40 copyright by Charles Dayhuff and Rick St.Pierre. The wings had to be used to over come mapping problems with the right hand wing, and the others for the different parts for the -40. I have reduced the quality of these "reused" parts which are not my work, as a statement of this fact. The NWO paint is 100% mine which is very obvious when you put them side to side (mine has the correct number of windows ;D). If the DC-10-40 paint kit becomes available, then I will transfer my repaint onto this and re-release the repaint. I just wanted to make this clear that this is not a rip from another repaint, but the use of some "base" parts to enable this repaint to be made. Paul

Hi Paul. First of all, thank you for the excellent repaints of the Northwest Orient fleet. These aircraft paints are fantastic.
I am having a problem getting the DC-10-"40" textures to apply. All of the other aircraft show up fine in their new paints. My DC-10s, however, are not accepting the textures and remain in the flat gray/black base color. I am using FS2002.
I am using the evolveai GE-C DC-10-30 model. Is that where my problem is? I tried searching Avsim to see if there was any other DC-10-30 "C" model and could not find any links to any other base models.
If you have any solutions, and/or suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated. The 747, and 727-100/200 models look great...I just can't seem to get the DC-10 textures to work.
Thanks for any insight!
Best regards, Greg in Phoenix

Thanks for any insight! Best regards, Greg in Phoenix Hi Greg. You need the Evolve AI DC-10-40 model (evdc1040.zip). The reference to the DC-10-30C was for the paint kit I had to use as there is no DC-10-40 paint kit. The DC-10-40 is PW powered. That's why they are a no show in the sim. Once you get the correct base model then the textures should appear. If you can't find them at Avsim (search engine is flaky), PM me here and I'll send it to you. Glad you like them. Paul
