As, to be honest, there is a lot I need to learn about some of the technical aspects... Anyways, so say you have a paint kit, where you have your layers for your actual paint, and when you paint, it looks, well, like the paint is painted on top of the other features - the base layer, rivets, etc, giving the appearance of a painted fuselage. What is is in the layers that allow for that sort of interaction between layers so to speak? I am attempting some repaints, for fun, on some AI aircraft, yet the paintkits for them are such where, unlike say repainting the "UTT" MD-11, or any AI-AARDVARK aircraft, if I have a paint layer over the base layer with rivets, lines, etc, it doesn't have that same interaction, and instead completely obscures the layers underneath them, and want to rectify this. I feel like an utter idiot since I don't know this information, hope I articulated my question well.

Adjust layer transparency (at least, in Photoshop)
