Hi All. Due to the progress on the DC-8-62, its time to put the 707 on hold for a while and get back to modelling the DC-8s. I am part way through the re-mapping of the textures, and some changes will also be made to the base set (that's life!), so this will be picked up after some more DC-8's are airborne. Here are some FSDS screen dumps of the WIP model. Note FSDS does not display high-res textures or have any anti-aliasing, so rather jaggy. Still a lot on animation to be redone as well. This is how she looks now. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment DeletedOK, back to pulling poly's on the DC-8. Paul

Hi Paul, Excelent Work. but. You can adding lights in the fuselaje? lights wings Hi David. There will be XML controlled folding outer wing lights, but not sure what you mean by "lights in the fuselaje". I have not modelled any lights on the plane, unlike the DC-8 to keep the poly count down. Shockwave Lights ad’s its own housings, so they appear to be there. Once the model is "finished", and the poly count known, I might add the beacons etc to the fuselage, but we'll wait and see what the final count is. Not sure when the 707 will be re-started as now it’s the push to get the DC-8 out of the door. Paul

Too bad the model is FSDS only. I could have otherwise helped out with my mediocre GMax skills (e.g. making it FSX native).

Hey Paul Watch the video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oie6TuQFruoSo I meant, the light on the fuselage, and it is not necessary to re build the plane And I liked his DC-8-63. is more great. I hope the DC-8-62 and 70s Great Work

If you look on page 1 at the second picture of the 73 on approach, you can just see that light on the fuselage. Much more evident side on or when it's dark than on that angle. Paul

Ok, Paul. I hope you finish the DC-8-70's. because if this more interesting and more updated. Devise After the Caravelle aircraft. because if I would like some of AI as those made of AFG. but in AI. I like that style. Other style make FS2000

Hi All.
Just to let you know that I've started on the 62F textures and the 73F model.
It will be a while before any pics of the 73F can be posted, nine models to do and I'm still working on the main model!
Paul

In most respects, FSDS is easier than Gmax (and less buggy!), but is more limited. Animation is much harder to do due to the limited views, but texturing is so much easier. Use whatever works for you! Paul

Hi All. The DC-8-73F now has 3 LODS, and the 4th is almost completed. Only another 5 to go , then on to the 71 and 72. Previews soon. Paul

Hi All. Unlike the 7LATE7, the DC-8-73F flew on time and budget! So far, no bugs have been found except on the textures. There were several DC-8-63F textures that had the rear service door misplaced. Not a problem is the door does not open, but with an opening door.............. I had to correct those textures. So far, all the 73 and 73F textures tried have this misplaced door. Oh well, so much for an easy life I'll correct the textures when they are converted to AI use. Anyway, here are a couple of screenies of the first and second flight. The first used 63F fuselage textures, and the second, 73F Lufthansa Cargo fuselage textures, which show the misplaced door.
