Hey guys, This is a fantastic forum and site. Thank you for it. I am new to flight simming, but I am getting sucked in fast. I am finding that I enjoy getting something new to work, more than I like flying sometimes. It looks like some of you feel the same, so I think I am in the right place. By the way, I am running FSX and I am not a computer wiz by any means.
I read somewhere that you can select a time period in addon scenery and that will load AI from that period. For the life of me I cannot find that information again. I would love to be able to start up FSX and select the period I am flying in and it all be correct. I am a huge fan of the 70's time period. So many of those great carriers are now gone or the remaining ones have of course changed their liveries. Could anyone be so kind as to point me in the right direction to be able to load this up? I have tried to do it from memory, but I am not doing something right. Is their a thread or tutorial to set up retro AI? I can't seem to find it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks again

Hello Scotty and welcome to the forums I'm not sure how it's done, but the folks over at CalClassic have setup their AI packages that way (1957, 1960, etc..) so they must know for sure. I'd suggest you ask this question in their forums (http://calclassic.proboards55.com/). These guys are amongst the classiest in FS, so I'm pretty sure you'll get an answer pretty quick. Welcome to the 70s and Exit runway when able Christian

Thanks Christian! Maybe that is were I saw this. I was looking at it, got interrupted, and my kids logged me off before I could mark it.
As I said before, I am new to all of this. Is their a thread or tutorial, that would walk me through uploading and using the files you have listed on this site? If I can't do it the other way, then I will set my entire program to be in the 70's era using what you have in here. I hope I am making sense.
Thanks for your response, I really appreciate it.

Hi, I'm Tom Gibson, from the site Christian kindly mentioned. It's really quite simple. 1. Put all of your 1970's traffic BGL files into a folder located here: FSX/Addon Scenery/Traffic 1970/scenery (I used Traffic 1970 as an example, you can name it anything you wish.) 2. Move all modern traffic BGL files (for example, the default traffic BGL if you still use it) into a folder located: FSX/Addon Scenery/Traffic Modern/scenery 3. Go into the Scenery Library, and add two scenery layers. In the first, browse to the Traffic 1970 folder. When adding the second layer, browse to the Traffic Modern folder. 4. Check one or the other, but not both. Now you can go back to the scenery library and switch between the 1970's or the modern era, at a mouse click. You will need to restart FS, though. Note that you can redirect TTools to compile to the Traffic 1970/scenery folder, to avoid having to copy or move BGL files into this folder as you compile new ones. Hope this helps,
