about the F-27.... Leased from Hughes Airwest (hence the US registration). N747L was written off following a landing gear collapse ad Jeddah. No one was on board at the time, and the inside story on that one should be humorous...

Wow - the aircraft in the foreground seems to be a Cimber Air VFW 614 from Denmark. I wonder what they were doing in the middle of the Saudi Arabian desert???

here's the DC-8-63... (and that's a BA Trident in the foreground ) Hi All. UK plane spotter here!!! All the DC-8-63's that Saudia leased were freighters that replaced the 707's and were used before the leased 747 freighters. I'll have to get my slide scanner hooked up again and scan some of my slides in. The 8's were only around in the late 70's and early 80's. Paul

ok ill see what i can do, but getting the Air Cargo titles for both sides will take time... english i can probably create easily enough, but the arabic will not be as easy as i can find one clear pictures of that side of the Dc-8s in the pre-81 titles when the font was changed.

Hi Peter. I don't have any SV DC-8's on my hard disk but I do have this scan of a dirty slide of one of the leased cargo 747's from 1981 not that long after it entered service direct from Boeing. The engines still have that new shine to them. The font will be wrong, but you might get a better idea of what the Arabic text looks like. I hope this piccie helps a bit. Paul PS, you can see the lovely July weather!! ;D ;D

yea ive got some clearer images on that scheme, problem is they changed what it says. I had someone who can read arabic take a look, it says literally "the Shipping" when the old one says "aero the shipping" and the font isnt the same... so yea ill see what i can do

Interesting picture of the F-27 the odd thing is that the other aircraft in the picture is a Cimber Air VFW-614 at what airport is this that these two aircraft are at. Odd to see the Cimber Air and Saudia Fokker at the same airport as Cimber is from Denmark and the 614 is a relatively small aircraft with not very much range.

The F-27 pic is from www.fokkerf27.nl. I didn't look at the pic "story"... sorry Just a thought: since Stefan has an actual Saudia schedule, whatever text/font/logo Peter is looking for could be somewhere in that timetable... Hi-res scan? e-mail? And not minding my own business?

Took another approach. HZ-ACF was the cargo 707 so I did a search on that and came up with this. www.airliners.net/open.file/0574907/L/This should have been the same as the DC-8s. Paul

ok... the Tristar is annoying the heck out of me... its going to be a "well this is the L1011" type repaint im afriad... its just not looking right because of the texture layout on the CDAI model... *sigh*

Hi. I´m now nearly half way through. Their Timetable must be one of the most complicated one´s I´ve ever seen. For example the LHR Flights don´t show the GVA-LHR vice verca legs, but they use the same Flt.no. or JFK it looks to me that the flight was non stop from Dharan??? I mean this are 14 hrs. Then the Plane stands at JFK for nearly 36 hrs. But they´re done now. Right now I must do the BOM, CAI, BEY, Damascus, the Africa Routes and the Domestic as well as the Penninsular Traffic. I hope to be done in 1 to 2 Weeks, from now. But ok. I´m doing every day a few legs. And slowly it´s taking shape. I can´t wait to see the SV Planes flying the 1979 Schedules. ;D BTW. Is anyone intersted to assign the planes, after I´m done? peterliddell: Why don´t you take the L-1011 from DWAI? I used it for the CPA paint, which is available at Avsim. Your paints are great. Regards. -STEFAN-SUN_KING-

The CDAI model is not a very thankful canvas LOL. I even used the DWAI for the PAA .500, it's too long, but the model is really superior.
