I plan on trying to make this accessible to as many of you guys as I can but I can only reliably get the AFCAD exported for the FSX/P3Dv5 versions of T2G MCO. I have had problems in the past in which stuff I export with the V5 SDK from ADE gives V4 users problems, so when I eventually sort this whole thing out I would really appreciate it if anyone with the v4 SDK could export the project from ADE for me. Moreover, if anyone has the FS2004 version of T2G MCO, I would gladly backdate that one as well should one send it to me.
Cheers, and for my American peers, hope you had a good game day.

Does anyone have FSX afcad files for FSX circa 1968-69? I have not yet tackled afcad. I'm assuming there's another learning curve... It's pretty easy in GSX to do -- assign each gate a set of airline codes. I can always go that route I suppose.

Editing parking codes within ADE is probably among the easiest of it's features, interface can be a little discouraging at first but once you get a little bit of experience with it, that confusion ebbs away. You get the hang of it rather quickly.

I've never seen any, but its much easier to edit airports in ADE than GSX...plus if you do it in GSX, only people with GSX can see your work. ADE is universal as you're actually editing the scenery itself. The thing is very few airports will look much like they did in the late 60s, so GSX is useless in that regard. With ADE, you can delete/add runways, taxiways, and even buildings and scenery objects. Just watch some YouTube tutorials, it's worth it. Download the desktop version of Google Eath and use the historical imagery feature in conjunction with photos, old charts you can dig up from google, and websites with historical aerials and you'll be set. Sadly not too much from the late 60s, often 2002-2005 is where you find the first quality images with Google Earth, but you never know.
It's really not hard at all, just gotta learn because it'll take many tries before you figure out how to get the AI to do what you want it to when it comes to stuff like turning out of parking spots, not backtracking on runways, or all sorts of other unrealistic behavior. But no one else is doing any late 60s scenery I think, CalClassics only went up to the mid 60s and things changed rapidly as the jetage brought about jetways and terminal piers obviously over ramp parking, and longer runways/wider aprons were needed. But for your purposes, it's best to learn, because you have virtually nothing else to go with lol. Learn to create late 60s simple scenery with ADE and then you can make any airport look how you want.

If you're gonna do 60's Orlando, it is probably worth noting that MCO was not a commercial airport until the late 70s. I think before then, ORL had the commercial traffic.

I suppose the next elephant in the room are these unsightly "assets". As far as I know the method for removing these is editing the object placement in MCX, but are there any alternative methods to this madness?

You get the hang of it rather quickly. Is it possible to select groups of gates at a time, for example -- the entire concourse is used solely by UA, like at LAX for example? Also something I don't understand -- if one is using a scenery add-on for any given airport, I am assuming one must then use ADE to create a new gate map for that scenery, also, yes?

The one interesting feature of GSX is that you can change jetway logo and ground vehicle images, which is fun. So even if you're looking at a way more modern version of an airport, the jetways will look historic and more accurate to the moment.

I'd like to see a retro expansion for GSX with older vehicle and jetway designs, it's completely possible, just gotta show there's a market for it.

As far as I know the method for removing these is editing the object placement in MCX, but are there any alternative methods to this madness? Gotta just work around them unless you can figure out how to delete PART of 1 object (as they are usually compiled as one huge object). The one interesting feature of GSX is that you can change jetway logo and ground vehicle images, which is fun. So even if you're looking at a way more modern version of an airport, the jetways will look historic and more accurate to the moment. You make the ADE first, and then you do a GSX profile after and do the logos and proper looking bridges.

The good news is that, it's simpler than I thought. The bad news is that, I question the legality of including the modified file in the download. Modifying the AFCAD and spreading it falls into the same category but the lines are a little blurred to me. I suppose an alternative is outright deleting the GSE file entirely but then the airport would become a little less alive, arguably. For now, I'll just wait and see how the cookie crumbles.

Well, a user would still need to buy the scenery to get to use your file, so really you're just possibly helping them sell a product lol.
