Hey there! I am looking for the DC-10-30 by AIM to use for Chas' wonderful 1998 project but I can not find the FSX/P3d native model. I looked on AIG's site and the one with OCI but it is for the Cargo version only. It seems I have to convert the model myself but I am not a modeler and would have no idea how to do such a thing, I know OCI does convert models on your system for some packages so I am wondering if there is a tool that I could use that would help me do this automatically.
You have to modify the textures in photoshop to work with the OCI model. Honestly, it would be difficult if you aren't handy with photoshop, and tedious if you are. What I do is take the AIM DC-10-30 and open it in photo shop, then open the FedEx Cargo DC-10-30 texture that works with the model, and set the opacity to a low percentage so I can see the areas that require paint that are "missing" from the pax texture, copy it from the FedEx texture, and try to color match it to the pax texture I want to use. It is a pain in the ass, and it's slightly noticeable, but it works.
This is only for some of the models that I wasn't able to convert, I've had luck running others through ModelConverterX and just saving them as a P3Dv4 object file, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But AIM does not allow redistribution of models so they can not be shared, and the AIM crew doesn't use P3D to my knowledge so I would venture to guess they have not worked on conversions to P3Dv4. Hopefully one day there is an official conversion(but again, there is no indication that there ever will be so do not expect that), but until then, OCI and ModelConverterX are you only options
I wish I had a simpler answer for you. I did find EVAI DC-10 models converted somewhere, I thought it was AIG, but they were out there and I use that one for some airlines that I had trouble converting.
It isn't the best model out there, but FS Painter allowed ranmori to do a P3Dv4 conversion of their DC-10, and it is on his website. Plenty of textures for that one. There was some interest shown in a conversion from the CLS DC-10 to AI, but I am not sure what ever happened to that, last I heard about it was years ago.

I don't really care about the quality of the plane as long as I know what it is since it is an AI Model, I only brought the AIM version up due to one of the repaints for your PLUNA package reacquiring it. Are you using the AIM in your screenshots or is it another?
Thank you for the answer though the DC-10 is quite an important plane for this and would be a shame to go without it.
chasensfo: Yes the regionals will be included, and yes the whole 1999 fleet is done (they joined Star Alliance in 1999 and that fleet has the logo lol)

theflyingmobian: I think at this point the Qantas VH-OJC Formula 1 747 is the only remaining 747 yet to be painted in AI, but I don't think it has plans yet as that was active in 2000 to 2002.

jetstar: G-AWNA was painted up in incorrect BOAC colours when it was WFU, It was broken up in those colours in 1999. If you look closely, you can see the overpainted white where the BA titles were, and the tail is showing the speed stripe underneath the.. see part2

jetstar: Thin paint on the tail. They never did anything with the lower blue though. It was just homage to BOAC's original 747-136 when it was retired. Its a pity is was not preserved. Then again, BA would not pay to upkeep the 707 at Cosford, which was scrapped.
