Hmm, I wonder where this livery could possibly come from...

Had this one sitting around for quite a while. Finally got comfortable enough with Illustrator to do the Arabic titles. Flightplans also released! Air Cargo Egypt Boeing 707-320C

Now posted to the blog ( brians-retro-ai.com btw) I actually really really like this livery. There's something about the metal body that just looks outstanding without looking old. Sudan Airways Boeing 707-320C

I really like these colors. I can't say for absolute certainty that the aircraft were still in the metal colors in 1983. ST-AIB (ntu) was in the newer white fuselage on the delivery line at BFI in 83. Like most places in Africa at the time, there wasn't a lot of aviation photography so aircraft were normally photographed outside of their home bases. Either way, I like the metal colors better and at this point, no one can tell me I'm wrong! Sudan Airways Boeing 737-200C

Chris - thanks for your support! I just renews the website yesterday so this will help, and still get me coffee for the day! I really appreciate it.This one has been sitting around for a while - I was never happy with the titles but I think I've gotten to a good place in Illustrator. I'm also getting to the point where my AIA folder is almost empty! Air Afrique Cargo Boeing 747-200

Another set I've been meaning to do for a while, including the rare metal-bellied 747. Best I can tell, there was only one 747 with the metal belly, N4718U. It had the bare bottom from 81 through 82/83-ish. There's only a few photos available so I can't be certain when it returned to the full white, but I like it so I'm keeping it. Color-matched to the rest of my United fleet. United Airlines Boeing 747-100

This one is about 30% best guess. There are very few photos of the aircraft in these colors and all are after it left service and is without titles. I used those photos, plus what I know about their livery at the time and came up with a it's-not-going-to-get-much-closer approximation. Lina Congo de Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter

Filling in a couple missing aircraft. Couple interesting notes about these - the red colors are actually Allegheny burgundy and gold. Likely they had excess paint from their Allegheny Commuter days and that found it's way into their own livery. Green found its way into the corporate colors in 1982 with the introduction of the F27s. Those aircraft flew their entire time with Air North in former Swift Aire green. I suspect they figured it would be easier to change the colors and paint one aircraft, rather than paint three Fokkers. Plus, it was a good way to further distance themselves from Allegheny.
