Well, I'm settled in Oak Park, on the near west side of Chicago. Been busy exploring - I love this town, it's great to not have to drive everywhere. I live just on the east edge of downtown Oak Park, walked today down to Borders and have also been wandering all over the village. While this is a temporary move, I'm now vying to make it permanent. I'll be in and out, but home to get some updates posted Sunday.

Da Bears, Da Bulls... quite a change from New Jersey You mean "New Joisey"...but I moved from Oklahoma City - where we get the Dallas Cowboys shoved down our throats every year, as well as OU fuh-ball. I don't miss that at all. While that sketch was dead-on, there aren't so many guys like that in Oak Park that I've seen - it seems more like an enclave of transplanted yuppies like myself.

All I am going to say for now is Go Blackhawks! Did you hear that Bill Wirtz, who bought the 'Hawks with his brothers in 1954 and was team president from 1966 until the present, died on Wednesday? In addition to the 'Hawks, we also have the AHL Wolves at the Allstate in Rosemont - so plenty of hockey for me to spend money on very soon!

(speaking like a true Retro): Are Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita and Tony Esposito still on the team?

Things pretty crazy after the the Cubs clinched? I briefly attended college in River Forest in the late 1970's so I know that is Cubs territory.
Go Cubs, Go!

Andy A little more horn honking than usual on Lake Street (I live at Lake and Euclid), but it was pretty quiet in Oak Park. Down by Wrigley, that was a whole other story... I watched the revelry in the streets on TV, I had no desire to venture into that zoo.

I live here, and have been out to the friendly confines several times...
I wouldn't go in there during the playoffs if you paid me. ;D

I was watching the late news on Channel 5 and all the weeping lager louts stumbling around Addison and making fools of themselves for the cameras.

8-)Nice to see you again Kristopher....I wondered where you had disappeared to. It has been ages since you last posted on CalClassic Forum.
Did not even know you were planning on leaving KOKC. Hope you have found what you wanted up in the Windy City. BTW, my youngest daughter just flew up there this morning to visit one of her old nursing classmates from their school days back in Baltimore in '76. Naperville. She will be there thru the 13th and then SWA back to KHOU Hobby.
I have developed a new ailment now at the tender age of 84....Shingles...and boy are they rough. Wish now I had not gotten the chicken pox back in my childhood. That herpes virus remains dormant for 40 or 50 years and then, Pow....it kicks you right in the old butt.
Take Care and stay well.
Jesse

Hi,
Yep, I had shingles and they are bad indeed. Luckily I didn't have a bad case, and I sure don't want to...
Hope your enjoying Chicago Kris!

Jesse I hope you get to feeling better soon. I wasn't planning on moving, per se - I had been mulling a move, but hadn't been far along on that until an opportunity presented itself, and you know what they say about the gift horse... So, here I am. I'm still legally an Oklahoma resident (even though I'm probably already registered to vote for "Hizzoner" and the Daley Center Gang...), but will be moving permanently after New Year's. I'll probably be living in either Oak Park or the Near North Side. There's just more opportunity here and I felt this was right - there's not much left for me in OKC anymore. Plus, I figure I can make a fortune buying polluted waste grounds in Bridgeport and selling them to the city for huge profits...
