I just upgraded to a new monster Dell box - 12gb RAM, latest Intel proc, 2gb video...I'm ready for all the detail, bring it on! Oh, yeah - triple monitors and the complete CH Products flight sim controls. My GF will never see me once I get this all up and running :-P

Regardless of what you throw at MSFS, it WILL find a way to keep framerates down.

Sure seems like it...not sure why when these new high end games like Grand Theft Auto which are extremely graphics intensive run great on my computer but FS lags at busy airports.

It's the internals of the game itself. If FS2004 or FSX was designed on 2004-2008 computers, that's all they were ever designed to handle. If the source code comes out and its to where we could edit it, (a miracle has happened by this point), then things would change. Both FS' are only using about 4GB of RAM and only so much in graphic and processing power. I have a bigger computer myself and it does lag around KMIA and KJFK but around others, it does great. I have 24GB of RAM, 2 ATI Radeon 5800's bridged together, i7 processor, and 3TB of hard-drive space.

Not to get too off topic, but this is why I'm looking into Prepar3d. Does it run the AI and run backdated FS9 and FSX scenery no problem? None of the simmers I know have it.

It apparently has problems with models made for FS9.
