OK, trying this again as it all went pear shaped! The DC-8-61 texture sets will soon be completed, and then the model will need packaging for uploading. A couple more teasers. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment DeletedPaul The other post reappeared when I posted this one, what gives??

Hi Tom.
Yet a water drinking smoke machine It needs to be reworked to bring it up to the same standard as the turbofans, and of course, the short tail and no ventral fin for the early bird, but looks great as is in the sim.
Can't use the smoke effect though, as its like a smoke screen generator before take off

I grew up at the end of the prop era and the jets were taking over. Many a happy memory of Britannia's Connie's Duggies ETC in my youth. It was a gradual change that just crept up. All of a sudden DC-8's and 707's replaced the props, along with SE210's and 1-11's etc. A much more exciting time as you never knew what to expect when you went to spot. Now its all gone. You know in advance that there is nothing coming in that does not have orange or a harp on it. I miss the days of finding something special almost every day. It's so quite and clean nowadays. Hard to spot the planes on approach now. Can I have my smoke back? Paul

I agree Paul,
To me the modern era airplanes are all the same. Liveries are pretty boring and I miss that good old engine sounds screeming in the skyes. When I was a kid I could sometimes make out which airplane was flying by by hearing the noise of the engines. Today they mostly sound the same, no more variety in unique designs like a tristar or three holers. Everything what counts today seems like standard's and low cost's. It is just like the food we eat.
regards Alex

Everytime I'm out running I am planespotting because I live near the final approach of a major airport.
Yesterday, I was delighted because there was a bloody CRJ on approach! Things have gotten so boring here (A320, 737, Q400, rinse and repeat) that even a CRJ is a welcome change. Sad, sad, sad, sad.
