What's the difference if they all have the same reg or if you've got 30 different MD-11s that look exactly alike; same paint, dirt, and weathering? Because the windows, dirt, etc, are common elements - regs are unique to individual aircraft. It looks really weird seeing a dozen aircraft of the same type n the same place all with the same registration number painted on the fuselage -for me it falls into the realm of "disrupts the suspense of disbelief," so far as the blurring of lines visually between sim and real world, as well as "Detracts from efforts to achieve extreme visual realism," and "it just plain looks silly." If MSFS had it so you could have the reg number painted on in the size/font/color/kerning/etc of your choice, but instead of it being part of the repaint it was taken from individual flight plans / handled through the AI traffic system, then it'd be a different story. And surely you do know the difference between calling a practice idiotic, which is what I was doing, and calling people idiots, which I wasn't doing, right?

Easy, Mr. Jason... We all have our pet-peeves. I saw no one being called an idiot here.
Reg's or No-Reg's is fine... maybe you could have versions where one could have Reg's and one doesn't. That way, all of the options are covered.

Well, he can paint for you guys from now on. One paint and he's a fu#*ING expert. Good. Enjoy. I am an expert on my own personal preferences, which I explained so people know why I put no registration numbers on. I am floored at the idea that you're raging so hard over this. Seriously, chill out dude.

*No one said they were an expert, either... we all started somewhere. And he gave us a reasonable explanation to why he didn't put reg's on his first repaint. (Much better than my first attempt, if I'm honest...)
**(Personally, I like seeing reg's but it is not required.)
There are no helms to be had here. We all are contributors in our own ways. We are all here b/c of our personal preferences match up somehow... not all but some. We are fans of yesteryears... we like smoke-and-noise... and we have the wing-nut gene in us somewhere.

One thing I'm noticing that is bugging me is, if you look carefully at my screenshots, you will notice on the nose that the red stripe kinda dips down a tiny bit right at the front of the nose, giving it the appearance of the stripe being curved there when it isn't... or rather, the stripe looks like it curves up until it reaches the front when it goes back to the original width, giving the appearance of a stripe that needlessly tapers before going back to normal. Gotta fix it >_<

That escalated in a fairly unpleasant way.

It did... But I don't want to alienate anyone here. Is everything ok, Mr. Jason? I didn't mean to play the devil's advocate necessarily... Maybe I just misunderstood where you were coming from...

In an attempt to deviate from the hostility and tension, I wish to address an issue I am noticing with my repaint (couple of posts up from this one is where I brought it up in this thread) so I may rectify it and finally declare my repaints done.

The best way to get around the problem you described is editing the pinstripe by hand. I had a similar issue fixing the AIG DC-9-50's I had painted. The nose and a few other areas were not quite fully mapped correctly and editing them just too trial and error.

*sighs* heh at east now I know the problem. Shouldn't be too hard to fix. Looking at photos online it turns out that there is yet ANOTHER window layout - a 2nd TATL variation - I'm gonna want - out of some detail oriented, semi-OCD nature, to do were after the door 2 L/R the windows are blanked out all the way to just below the end of the "a" in the "American" titles. *phew*

Ugh getting sick of this textures issue - ugh, just when I think I've removed the right amount of red, the orientation is changed in such where suddenly it looks like paint is being removed in a different part of the nose all together. >_<

Solution: Stop worrying.
Even IRL planes are not painted picture perfect and it's really unlikely that someone goes for a close inspection of an AI aircraft anyway.

It's hard to - for me anyways, the bit stands out so badly... *sighs* probably will leave it be anyways, easier than OCDing over my repaints and f***ing something up.

I try and let my OCD have its days - and not let it others. For example, the CIS Xi'an Y-7 has some mapping issues I can't seem to fix - same with the AIG DC-9-50's. All we can do is our best...

Eh, I think I've gotta say "ah, screw it" so far as the nose goes, I think it ultimately is not that big a deal.
