Hi everyone! im new to the forum Well the thing is for some months now Ive been making AI spin offs from defunct airlines -Like I made an 'updated' TWA fp with a new scheme, modern aircraft and timetables- So ive finished the one of Pan Am i did the FPs and and painted the aircraft , i compiled it and installed it into FSX but the textures are all in black!!! but the FP works just fine tho. The aircraft involved are the A320, A321 (DJC), A332, A343, A345, B77W (TFS) and B748i ( utt). Ive finished other paints from EAL, TWA and BNF but i hadnt tested them yet since im changing pcs, + i plan to make more of these. if anyone can help me out i would be very grateful thanx!!

Are you running in DirectX 10 mode? If so, turn it off. Most AI models were made for DX9 and thus won't be rendered with textures when used with DX10.

Im not sure what you mean, but the 'Preview Directx 10' is unchecked in my fsx graphics panel.

Yes, I meant exactly that.
Are the repaints properly installed, i.e. right texture format (DXT3 .bmp or DXT5 .dds), correct [fltsim] entries and installed for the correct aircraft model?

Unless you used a program like DXTBmp or ImageTool to convert them, they are probably still in 24 bit format. FS cannot read this BMP format. You must use a tool like the two I listed to convert them.
To download DXTBmp do a web search and download from Martin Wright's site. Install on your hard drive, along with the required DLL files.
Then:
SAVE A COPY OF THE 24 BIT IMAGE SOMEWHERE ELSE FIRST
1. File/Load - browse to the first texture in the plane's FS folder. 2. File/Save As/Extended Bitmap - choose DXT3 in the drop down box. 3. OK to overwrite the file but as I said above SAVE A COPY OF THE 24 BIT IMAGE SOMEWHERE ELSE FIRST - use this to edit any further repaints (do not use the DXT3 image, since it is compressed). 4. Repeat for all of the plane's textures.
Now start up FS and check out the plane - it should appear in all its glory.
Hope this helps,

I have a similar problem with Jasons DC-10-30 Caledonian, some come out Grey while some show the texture. There are three different engine types and in spite of creating the three folders for the different types they do not show correctly.Almost the same with the Air Europa 752,one shows but not the other in spite of registration on the CFG.only one will show up.I am running Win7 but have changed the compatability setting to Win XP service pack 3 to see if that alters things.
