I think maybe the names are in a slightly too large font. I'm not sure I agree, when you look underneath which windows the name starts and ends you'll see this is very close.

The font is right, but look at the windows below the main titles... (never seen so little around that section of the aircraft...)

Hi again, thanks for the reply. Maybe it's because of the distance from the row of windows. If you look at your repaint of the 747SP Hantam, the font and position is exactly right there. If you look at the photo you posted of ZS-SBK you will notice that the name is lower than in your repaint, actually running between the pitot tubes. Just something to consider if you are still working on them. they are awesome repaints anyway. Yes, that window configuration was very odd. I had some old SAA timetables with the seatplans and they were just two rows of business class seats on the port side, the first class toilets were both behind L1 and I think there were galleys next to L2. ZS-SAW, SAY, SAX, SAV also had a lot of windows blocked out. Six behind R1 and L1, six behind L2 and R2, and two behind L4 and R4. www.airliners.net/photo/South-African-Airways/Boeing-747-444/0842048/L/&sid=6dff0ebdc735f2c722f8a1aa87657bfdwww.airliners.net/photo/South-African-Airways/Boeing-747-444/0541002/L/&sid=6dff0ebdc735f2c722f8a1aa87657bfdZS-SAK, ZS-SAZ were slightly different. 2 windows blocked out behind R1, L1. Six windows blocked out behind L2 but only five behind R2. 3 behind L4 and R4. www.airliners.net/photo/South-African-Airways/Boeing-747-444/1623850/L/&sid=2d01d32a8aef8541c93d497c1ad9b96awww.airliners.net/photo/South-African-Airways/Boeing-747-444/1854091/L/&sid=2d01d32a8aef8541c93d497c1ad9b96aSBS, SBK, SAZ and SAK all had two windows, one window apart, blocked out in the last section of economy but only on the right side. I never knew the reason for this as it was normal economy seating. cheers

ZS-SPE "Hantam" ...FINALLY the SP in the new colours. Been meaning to do this one for a long time ;D PS - wondering if you could also make an ZS-SPB 'Outeniqua' using this repaint? The reason is that I have your ZS-SPE old colours, which I would like to keep as it is in the 90s style of the old orange colours (white tummy, blue titles). Thanks!

Dear Springbok86.
With all given respect, but I find your behaviour plain rude and ungreatfull! Instead of being thankfull, that someone had mercy and painted this aircraft - all you can do is DEMAND, DEMAND AND DEMAND! It's just a hobby after all! If you don't have a personal connection to them - then forget them and appreciate the efforts we all put into this hobby, despite our daily jobs, studies and family matters?! Or paint them yourself - there is all you need on the web!
I am most greatfull, that 747sp is helping - me - as much as he can, despite his job-schedule, and even more that there are painters who are willing to do more exotic paints than the mainline.
Sorry. But this is really annoying.
Kind regards.

Dear Sunking, sorry that my posts have caused you so much offence. I have said thank you to 747SP at every possible moment for creating new Southern African paints. I have tried these SAA ones myself but they looked totally hopeless in FS and didn't match at all the other SAA repaints. I was just excited that these 744s in particular have been produced. What I added earlier was advice about window positions on the 747s as a means of helping not demanding, the same with the font size. I am away working on a 6 month contract so I won't be on my FS computer until Xmas and I am looking forward to installing the new paints then. If 747SP agrees with you that I have been ungrateful I unreservedly apologise and I will desist from posting on this site.

Well, allow me to put it like this: Yes, I'm afraid I also felt you were being a tad pushy but I would never have commented on it. Mainly though - and far more importantly - I'm very happy that anyone enjoys my crummy repaints, and I really like having someone here who also appreciates African add-ons. It's true that you did thank me many times and I for one feel that we should good-naturedly attribute this to excitement and joy before anything else. I definitely don't want you quitting the forum! We're a small community as it is, and we should stick together and enjoy our hobby So don't feel bad, keep on posting and just have fun! Thanks for looking out for me Sunking :-) It was a very nice thing to do. On a side note: I actually really appreciate constructive criticism, as long as the goal is a better repaint (or FP or whatever). I view this very much as a team effort and show previews in this spirit. But drat those crazy SAA window configs! I was very meticulous in checking them but never realised that not only do they vary from frame to frame, but also changed over the years!

Update on ZS-SBK: now with the early window config and the name snuggled in between the pitots....
