My last visit to Michigan was in 99 or 2000, I'm not 100% sure of it. It was the year before my aunt from Kalamazoo passed away. She was the "last relative" I had in the US. Funny, a lot of relatives "of my father's side" went to the US, but none of them got any kids. I will come back but don't know when, currently we have two little ones that make travelling not easy. Let me think about the aircrafts I flew over the North Atlantic: L15, DC10, MD11, B742, B743, B744, B762, B763, A342, A343 and A333.

I flew Northwest in 1986 OKC-MEM-ATL and back - and except for the white-washing of the Republic scheme and the red tail, it was still pure Republic. The flight attendants were still wearing their uniforms with "Herman" on them, he was still emblazoned on the back of the tray tables (it was a DC-9-30, so it probably was ex-NCA), and all the dishes had him on them as well. There wasn't too much else memorable about that flight other than on the return, we got into Memphis early and had to sit on the ramp, as they hadn't anticipating us making such good time and no gate was available. I remember the pilot quipping "Sorry we have to sit here, they're not used to us getting here ahead of time!"

First flight about 1954, a flip in a DH89A Dragon Rapide at a "Navy Days" airshow at Lee-on-Solent. When we landed, I couldn't get back across the runway to tell my parents about it on account of 18 Westland Wyverns (a turboprop strike fighter) forming up for a formation RATO takeoff. First overseas flight: 1955, in a Fred Olsen Airtransport DC-3, from Southampton to Bergen, Norway.
