I started a new thread to show the progress of the fleet. This one is the Laker hybrid DC10. DC8-61 next. I'm painting slow, stopped smoking on May 1st after misusing cigarettes for 30 years. Feeling well, but lost what I'd call the ability to concentrate on things.

Hi Ralf.
Looking good.
Good luck kicking cancer sticks.
You will soon find out that you hate some of the food that you have been eating for the past 30 years! ;D

Thanks, Jason. We'll have much more, for the -61 I'll paint 4 variations, if I don't find more pictures-LOL.

The next -61 is ready. Edit: The inner engines looked a little bit strange, I have installed a different model version now, pictures re-uploaded.

Here's a complete different paintscheme. The "A" in "Capitol" does not fit, but the result looks better than a handpainted letter, at least handpainted by me. @ Paul: Could you please check if I missed a -61? Ralf

Nope, you have all the 61's covered. Now for the 63's. Thanks again for the repaints. When they are all completed I'll add them to the flight plans and test them before release. Paul

Hi Ralf.
Not that I know of and not covered by the timetable anyway.
They did get two ex Airlift International 63CF's later, but I only saw them after CL was no more and its aircraft went to Big A. They were passenger then.
HTH.

Thanks, Paul. I checked A.net for liveries and it looks the 63 uses the same as the 61. Too bad that a nice hybrid scheme was not worn before '84.

The first -63. To be honest, it's just a "converted" and reworked -61 repaint.

All this talk of Capitol makes me wonder - has anyone else thought of doing military charters? These would fit nicely in any late 1960's-early 1970's AI setup, because of all the flights to and from Vietnam. Braniff had very limited operations on the West Coast back then - one run on the old Panagra route from SFO to Lima via LAX. But they had a base at Oakland for the 707-327Cs that flew Military Airlift Command charters to Saigon via Honolulu and Guam (sometimes Manila). In one of my books, I have a rough schedule for these flights circa 1968, and I've thought about working it up and paining the planes for it. There were other airlines, such as Capitol, that felw these types of flights. So was Seaboard World - we flew on them to Germany in '74. American Flyers Airline was another - they also chartered out an Electra to The Beatles for their first American tour in 1964. A bit of trivia, at the end of the tour, AFA owner/Captain Reed Pigman flew the band in his personal twin Beech to his ranch in Arkansas for some R&R before they returned to England. It was on a military charter in 1966 that Pigman lost his life. He was in command of an Electra making a visual approach to AFA's base at Ardmore, Oklahoma when it's believed he suffered a fatal heart attack. It's believed that he then slumped over the controls and before the First Officer could gain control, the aircraft impacted with a ridge in the foothills of the Arbuckle Mountains. All told, 83 perished in the state's worst non-natural disaster until the OKC Bombing. The aircraft had been flying soldiers from Fort Ord, CA to Fort Benning, GA and was landing at the Ardmore base to refuel.
