mmm well just remember the old technical idiom: Technology is a race between engineers designing more fool proof things and the universe designing better fools... -OR- Nothing is fool proof, fools are ingenious Why is it fools can become server admins is my question? WHY???  (At this point ill go cry in the corner for 30 mins...) |

WHY??? (At this point ill go cry in the corner for 30 mins...) Heh...as an Enterprise Analyst and RAID Specialist, I love this one: Customer: I have a failed hard drive, can I get a new one? Me: Have you run diagnostics to see if the drive has actually failed, or just fallen out of the array? Customer: No, and what do you mean? (explanation of how RAID works) Customer: Okay, I ran the diagnostics, it passed. (Sarcastic look of utter shock on my face as if I don't know that the majority of RAID drives pass...) Me: Good deal, go ahead and rebuild the drive. Customer: Um, how? Me: Pull it out of the system for about 30 seconds so the controller can recognize its removal and then put it back in - it rebuilds automatically. Customer: Oh, wow, it seems to be doing something, I no longer have the failure light. Voice in my head: No, really? Not like I haven't done this before... |
