When I try to download the Piedmont flight plans, it says
404 Error -- File Not Found The page you are looking for (http://retroai.org/download/flightplan/piedmont87.zip) is not here.
Any chance someone can fix this?

Thank you, Dan.
For the rest - I am getting sick of repeating myself. I am rebuilding as best I can. Two months ago, I nearly died - does anyone think that not being able to download a flight plan ranks all that high on my list? I'm doing the best I can, bear with me - you'll get everything you want, but you may have to wait. After all, we do this for free - you get a lot of work at no cost to you. If you want to get snippy, I can certainly start charging you to help offset the cost I pay to keep the site running.

Hey hey, calm down now.
I was referred to this place by my VA, I wasn't paying any attention to the front page. Just trying to download the AI pack. I wasn't being snippy here, I was just asking. Now, I've gone back and reread the front page, and I'm sorry for committing the sin of omission. I'm sorry you've had problems. If you nearly died two months ago, I'm terribly sorry. For one, your font page says nothing about that. Now that my ignorance has been fixed, I'll gladly wait for you to rebuild, but my ignorance is no excuse for being rude. Take your own advice about being snippy, chief.

Why on earth would I put my personal life on the website? That's what the forum is for, an informal place to discuss what's going on. There's no "if" involved here - I don't bring up something that serious without it being correct. But, no harm, no foul, I certainly have no problems with you or your questions. I wish I could do more, but for some reason, the 1980's files I have will not decompile properly and I need to get with Paul on it, as he has the archives from that decade - even if the site isn't updated for a while, we'll endeavor to get you what you want ASAP. But do bear with me - I apologize in advance, as it's real easy to catch me when I'm not feeling well and my tolerance for many things is greatly reduced at such times. I don't mean to be short with anyone, but sometimes I am because you may be the person unlucky enough to step on that last good nerve. I really mean no ill will to you or anyone else. I do think it's fair, however, to reiterate that we do this as a labor of love and we do it for free - or, in my case, at some expense. I don't pay a whole lot - about $180 a year to maintain the domain and site. None of us are paid for our time in updating the site, compiling flight plans. painting planes, or doing AFCADs and Voicepack mods. A general update can easily take me 8 hours from an off day, time I take away from my family and friends because I want to give people a good and enjoyable product - that's why myself and others sometimes get bothered by things like "Why doesn't this work?" - when you hear it enough times, you start to feel like what you do is unappreciated and that we should be available 24/7 to give everyone what the want at their convenience. When we lash out, it's not personal, it could have been anyone that lit that fuse. So, please don't look at my reply or anyone else's as negative, we're still here to get what we can for you.

If I may take it upon myself to mediate a bit and add a suggestion...
Since this question seems to be coming up a lot lately perhaps Kris could put up a prominent note on the front page (www.retroai.org) simply saying that some file links are broken at the moment and they will be restored as quickly as possible. No need to go into why. Another possibility is to re-direct the broken links to a page that simply says "this file will be restored as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience."
I don't know how the other authors feel about this but I always upload my FPs to avsim as well as submitting them here. If I note on this forum that I have completed a project an submitted it here, you don't have to wait for the update. You can find it by searching under my name ("Spallek") at avsim. Unfortunately, none of my projects are from the 1980's. Perhaps some of the other authors would consider doing this also. Meanwhile, if someone mentions that they have completed a project you might try PM-ing them and asking that person to e-mail the files to you.
Now, let me finally say thanks again to Kris for maintaining this website. We all look forward to the updates when you are able to accomplish them.
Andy
