Okay, here's what's coming later this week, this should fill in some of the southern African continent with corresponding flightplans already on this forum: Air Burundi (Caravelle III, DC-3) Air Botswana (DC-3, HS748) United Airways (HS748, Viscount 700) Comair Limited (C-47 x4 variants) Transkei Airways (HS748) Bop Air (HS748) Lesotho Airways (DHC-6 x2 variants, F-27 x2 variants, Do-228, 707-320C, HS748 United Airways hybrid) Air Niger (C-47, DC-6B) Air Tanzania (707-331, uses DWAI 707-420 model), color-matched to the rest of the fleet available here Pretty much all of this is painted, but it takes nearly as much time to package for upload as it does to paint some of these, so all will be available by the weekend. Plus, some of the other aforementioned stuff, IRA, SVA, and maybe another surprise. The PBU Caravelle really needs an FP, I have something very inaccurate set up in my sim, but this is a 950nm-range airliner that flew regularly to LFPB/LFPO back in the day, so I am interested to see where it had to stop for gas along that route (at least a two-day round-trip route, one would assume). If anybody has good FP for this aircaft, please post them here and on the interim FP thread, thanks. Might also want to look into some of Brian's plans that need paints. Some of the European airlines, Genair, TEA Europe, and probably a few more I'm not remembering need some paints. Sadly there's no A300B1 model for the TEA Airbus, but a B2-4 should suffice. What is it about stubby pre-production models always being forgotten.

The creators of *most (not all) models are looking to fill plans out for what’s going on next year, not last year... I personally don’t agree with it but it’s the reality we live in.

I know Air Niger had a DC-4 flying PAX right up until its demise in 1989 - Nose-gear didn't extend and it was written off from there.(Sorry - That was a Air T'Chad DC-4 that flew up until 1989.) Looking forward to seeing these, sir Mike!

Thanks for the subtle catch, Christian..... The DC-4 registered 5U-RDN that Air Niger used (and also leased to Air Tchad) had square trim around the (round) windows, so I mistook it for a DC-6 on the first look. My DC-6 Air Niger paint has been transposed over to the DC-4, and the Air Tchad DC-4 and C-47 (2 variants each) have been added to the been-painted list. I made my own HTT tail logo and billboard from scratch, at the scale I am using it, it came out very nice. Should be posted by tomorrow or Thursday. HTT also used a couple of F-27s and at least one Twotter, and I have pix for those for next-up painting. I am declaring this a stopping point for this run of paints, just so I can package and upload them this week, lol. Everything advertised Monday went to AVSIM this morning, plus the Air Tchad DC-4 and C-47. We'll see what happens next. On a completely separate note, I checked my archived files, and including this morning's upload (18 files), my total uploads to AVSIM and elsewhere is currently 4,865. The numbers are skewed a little bit at AVSIM from the 2010 hack, as I re-uploaded hundreds of my files in batch zips to save time (and library manager wear-and-tear, lol), and I only have credit for about 3,500 or so, but I still top the list for uploads by a single contributor. I will easily top 5,000 files next year, which will be significant also because it will be my 20th year of painting. I have also repainted over a thousand aircraft for various MAIW projects. I never really planned for this to happen, I just like to paint for my own uses, and I like to share just as much, so there you are. No end in sight......

Amazing how one man has painted so many planes, and yet there's still plenty birds to paint. I can only hope there is no unexpected end to this, that would be a very sad day indeed. As a matter of fact, I heard our pal Frank, or fmcs, recently passed away due to lung cancer. May he rest in peace, and live on in our flightsims with all the birds he's painted.

Wow....too bad about Frank. Another contributor of note! RIP. Thanks for sharing. I "get" his choice of avatar now. Thanks Mike. I don't know where we would be with regards to aircraft with out those paints and models you have conbtributed.

Yeah, it's always sad to lose a member in such a niche community. By the way, I was curious Mike. How come you did the new AZW colors for the 767 and not the old ones? Is there also a possibility we'll be seeing the BAe 146 operated by them, as well as some more southern African paints, like some SAA paints for the FAIB models? I actually think just about everything they operated through the 80s and 90s aside from the 727s and A300s could all be painted on FAIB models.

I have more plans for South Africa, and more of Africa in general. The AZW paint I had done for myself earlier this year, and stumbled across it this week, so I got it out. I will do the earlier scheme as well, and the other requests are noted. I do my own agenda in painting, mostly, but I do listen to requests now and then. In addition to other stuff I have on the horizon, I got pix for Gemair and TEA Europe yesterday, it will be the first EMB-110 I have ever painted, I believe. Also, the old 80s-90s Air Belgium might make an appearance. It must be the firefighter in me, I like red aircraft, lol.....

Africa is definitely in need of paints, and the entire area is an interesting place. Some airlines I can think of that NEED paints are DETA Moçambique/LAM Mozambique, Air Malawi, Air Rhodesia(late 60s and early 70s paints for the Vickers Viscount and DC-3, as Christian Page has already painted the mid-late 70s paints for those, as well as the B720), among other airlines. Great stuff though, can't wait to see you hit the big 5k. You're an absolute legend, Mike.

I'm trying to stay out of the 60s, I was like five years old back then. My big era of interest is definitely the 1970s-1980s. I like the 90s because of all of the baby-Flot airlines that popped up in the former Soviet Union, and the de-regulation of CAAC which did the same for Chinese airlines. However, that was when liveries started their sterile logo-focused "corporate" look, which has been pretty boring up until just recently. I have never even flown in an Airbus aircraft, any type, ever. I have flown in all three tri-jets (DC-10, L-1011, MD-11), and all marks of the pax 747 except for the -300, and all other manner of Boeing and Douglas/MD aircraft over the years. I definitely have the hobby virus, and I am just glad I am able to indulge it in this manner. Back to the 60s, I know I did the SVA 60s scheme, but that was to complete a paint package, completely, and they used the late 60s livery on some aircraft until about 1973. I will look into the Air Rhodesia Viscount, though.

It's absolutely amazing to see you back and with a joy and motivation. Since others already asked, I'd also kindly ask if there's anything planned towards Asia? Kind regards. Stefan

Yeah, haven't forgotton about that.... there are some specific graphics I either have to find or make, for the large scale textures of the FAIB 747s, can't just get away with using a 30-year-old Kodachrome slide for photo-real this time. I found something else in my vault, something that cgold painted awhile back, so I am merely adding to it, it should be uploaded tomorrow, then I have to finish the Iranian 747s.

Yeah, you mention being only 5 years old or something back when the 60s rolled over. It makes me sad because I am probably one of the youngest members on the site, hell, I was barely conscious at the time of 9/11. I wish I could've experienced the 20th century, but alas, I was just a little too late. But I'm glad all you likeminded people are around so I can experience just that little eek of the 20th century I wish I had the pleasure of experiencing first hand.
