Will you, linguisticpilot rather do the Virgin paints for the FAIB Indeed I will, but just because that is the best choice for a *new* paint. However, I wouldn't go on a Jason-like painting marathon (respect mate!) to cover all existing 747-100s, for instance.

You want authentic flightplans for your F9, don't you? I also and many who download them as well - I'd say. That is why I do that and it is worthwhile to me. I'm using FSX and I don't quite understand your point. Of course they can! The only weird behaviour that FSX native models exhibit (unless worked around) is that the lightmaps will always show regardless of landing/cabin light state! And that doesn't make textures for FS9 models unusable at all. I fact, I kind of like the airliners sitting around with their lights on at night. Makes it look like their cabin is being prepared for their next trip. I never said that FAIB and their painters are not allowed to paint what they like. The only wrong thing is expecting them to paint livery x, y or z.

Bjoern. The outnumbering of days has changed in FSX I don't want a flight according to OAG on Monday to take place on Tuesday, because I don't want to convert the file. Neither do I want to loose my GA traffic to a unconverted FS9 file in FSX. And others might take this position as well. Secondly, some airport codes have changed between the two sim generations, so I convert the file for that reason too. Thirdly, reading your posts in another forum led to me to believe that you don't like FAIB or NAAI - that is up to you, but please don't enforce others to take your position as well. Finally, I didn't say that I enforce all paints to be redone. I said, it might be good to switch and to replace the dinosaurs of AIA as design technics have improved and those new ones make things a lot more real. I hope we are fine now. Take care and kind regards. Stefan

Secondly, some airport codes have changed between the two sim generations, so I convert the file for that reason too. AIFP for one, will take care of the difference in day numbering during FP compilation for FSX as soon as you tell it that the raw flightplan (txt format) you've just opened is in FS9 format. It also takes care of the changed airports. I like all AI aircraft makers as long as they stick to the established standards (polycount as low as possible, multiple LODs, one diffuse texture of 1024² px). Which FAIB and NAAI do. (In the case of FAIB, their painters don't.) The thing that I dislike about new AI aircraft models is people demanding paints. There will either be paints for the model or there won't.

Bjoern: where do you see me demanding any paints? I said a switch would be nice - "wäre", das ist ein Konjunktiv mein lieber, und kein Imperativ a la "muss" bitte genau lesen - as the old AIA models as nice as they are don't have a guarantee to run flawlessly in P3D. Now, wouldn't it be nice to see retro traffic in P3D as well? I am most certain that at least the 747 will be taken care of. Until then, back to my health issues and redoing ai from scratch Kind regards. Stefan

Everyone's arguing over why we need to switch 747 models and I'm over here like, why hasn't anyone made an LCF yet?

Because it's ugly, that's why.

Well, we should be glad that there are those, who take their time to create new models as well and I wonder, why we should punish them by saying: "oldies but goldies"? If they see people using and painting their new models, they might even consider doing the 747 LCF. Who knows. Kind regards. Stefan

Well... after playing with the paintkits a bit... I'll be doing 747SPs on it but I don't think I'll rush to redo all my AIA classics. I find no matter what I do some of the textures turn out fuzzy. It's not the textures themselves it something with the LODs. See here

Boeing 747SP's: CAAC Syrian (OC and NC) Kazakhstan With a few more in the works. Is it possible to help me with the CAAC request I put up some time ago? Eduardo provided his kits, so one could complete the missing and having a colour match. Well, I not demanding it, but would be appreciate if it was possible though. Kind regards. Stefan

There is a 747-200 on the way in CAAC colors. I know there are some CAAC paints on Simlivery and in Eduardo's and I's big Chinese project up on Avsim. After those, are there any missing? Some are on Avsim as stand-alones, too.
